I read about Seasons 52 when it first opened, gosh, more than a year ago? I've been wanting to try this healthy eatery ever since, but never got a chance to go. They only use fresh seasonal ingredients, and nothing on their menu is over 500 calories.

It was Costa Mesa Restaurant Week. I thought we would take advantage of it and try Season 52. We made reservation through OpenTable, and was seated promptly when we arrived at the restaurant.

For Costa Mesa Restaurant Week, Season 52 offered 4 course meal for $32.11/person. We had plan to order two of these, but Dr. P thought some of the items on their regular menu looked too good to pass up. We ended up ordering one Restaurant Week meal, and a few items off their regular menu.

Strawberry Fusion Martini ($12.10) / Sierra Cantabria Rioja ($10.50)

Dr. P ordered a Strawberry Fusion Martini for me. Our waitress shook the martini tableside, and left the shaking jar (is that what you call it?) on the table. So I actually got two glasses of martini out of it. Nice! The martini was made with real strawberries, and it tasted sooooo good. Dr. P got himself a Spanish red wine.

Spicy Pork Taco Flatbread ($9.90)
Chili braised pork, jalapeno salsa, goat cheese, tomatoes, red onions, chipotle sour cream

Spicy Pork Taco Flatbread was the item that caught our attention on their seasonal summer menu. The description looked so good. The flatbread was on the heavier side because everything on it was so strong tasting. The pork was soft, but salty. The chipotle sour cream was spicy and salty as well. It was good, but we were pretty much half full already after eating the flatbread. And this flatbread has 500 calories or less? Seriously? How is that possible?

Grilled Chipotle Chicken Skewers ($9.85)
With spicy BBQ sauce, summer corn relish and guacamole

Grilled Chipotle Chicken Skewers was the appetizer we picked form the Restaurant Week menu. The chicken was grilled perfectly. Very soft and tender. The spicy BBQ sauce was again, on the saltier side. I noticed they seasoned their food pretty heavy with salt. Maybe that's the trick to make diet food taste good? The corn relish and guacamole was delicious.

Organic Baby Spinach Salad ($8.45)
With raspberries, toasted pine nuts and crumbled blue cheese

Organic Baby Spinach Salad was one of the best salad ever! Love the combination of raspberry and raspberries. The light vinaigrette dressing was delish.

Cedar Plank Atlantic Salmon ($19.95)
With Babe Farms rainbow carrots, fresh asparagus and red bliss potatoes

The restaurant week entree we picked was Cedar Plank Atlantic Salmon. OMG this salmon was good. It was so flavorful when cooked on cedar plank. The grilled asparagus was really yummy as well.

Lamb T-Bone Chops ($25.95)
With asparagus, truffle mashed potatoes, red wine glaze

Lamb T-Bone Chops was from their seasonal summer menu. Dr. P ordered the lamb medium rare, but it came more like medium well. It was still pretty tender and tasty, so we didn't bother sending it back. The red wine glaze was good, but again, the lamb was seasoned on the saltier side. Truffle mashed potatoes was addicting. I just kept on eating it bite after bite.

Mini Indulgence Dessert ($2.75)
Individual servings of Mocha Macchiato

Mocha Macchiato was the best dessert! Mocha mousse on top, with chocolate cake in the middle, and sweet cream on the bottom. It was seriously good, and the perfect portion, too.

Is everything really under 500 calories? It tasted too good to be diet food. I like this restaurant. You can taste how fresh the ingredients are. Although I think next time I'll tell them to go easy on the salt. I think we'll be back again to try their fall seasonal menu.
