[Pasadena] [French] Cafe Bizou

It's dineLA Restaurant Week!  The special is only on Sunday through Thursday.  Dr. P has to work on weekday, and just doesn't have the time to go up to Los Angeles.  Too bad for him!  I took the opportunity to take my parents out  for some bargain deal meal.

I picked Cafe Bizou for lunch.  It was $16 for 3 course lunch.  The original plan was to take my parents, but they had some plumbing problem at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com that morning so dad stayed http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com with the plumber to fix the problem.

Bread

My mom thought the bread didn't taste as good as Cheesecake Factory's bread.  She was comparing those two places because they had similar bread.  While she was busy talking about the bread, I spilled water... ON THE WAITER.  He was very nice about it, and I was so embarrassed.

Lobster Bisque

Mom ordered Lobster Bisque.  Lobster bisque always tasted too salty for me at other restaurants, but Cafe Bizou's version was just right.  There were A LOT of lobster in the soup.

Baked Mushrooms
stuffed with chicken and spinach mousse in a balsamic sauce

Baked Mushrooms was big.  The mushroom itself wasn't big, but the stuffing was huge.  It was stuffed with lean chicken and spinach mousse.  Delicious!  The balsamic sauce was really good, too.

Lobster Tagallini Pasta
with black tagallini pasta topped with chunks of lobster and tossed with tomato and mushrooms in a lobster vodka sauce

Mom's main entree was Lobster Tagallini Pasta.  Lobster, lobster, and lobster.  There were so much lobster in the dish.  Mom kept on saying, "they give you lobster like it's free in this restaurant!"  (這家餐廳的龍蝦是不要錢喔?)  Mom really likes that the seasoning at Cafe Bizou is light.  The vodka cream sauce was delicious, and not heavy at all.  Fresh tomato and mushroom with the black tagallini pasta was great.  She finished the entire dish, every bite of it!

New York Steak
New York steak 8 oz. served with french fries and asparagus in a peppered brandy cream sauce

I ordered New York Steak.  The steak was cooked good, but it didn't have any taste.  Like I mentioned before, seasoning was really light in this restaurant.  In this case with the steak, it was a bit too light.  Steak had no taste, and the brandy cream sauce also had no taste.  I had to dip my steak in to the ketchup for some flavor.  Fries was good though.

Trio of Sorbet

Mom got Trio of Sorbet.  She thought it was too sweet, and said she preferred ice cream over sorbet.  But I like the sorbet, and finished it for her.  There were three flavors, raspberry, mango, and lime.  I love the mango one.

Homemade Tiramisu

Homemade Tiramisu was great the first few bites, but it was a bit too sweet.  I only ate half of it.

It was a very relaxing lunch with my mom.  Service was a bit slow, but good.  Food was good for my mom, who likes light and simple food.  But for someone who's used to heavy salt and flavor, the food at Cafe Bizou will probably be too bland.  I enjoyed the lobster bisque, stuffed mushroom, and the lobster pasta a lot.  The steak was just ok....  But for $16, it sure was a great bargain!

  2. We were there for lunch today. Your Mom was right, a lot of lobster in the pasta. I really liked the food, but was a big disappointment with the dessert. My tiramisu was pretty good, until the last bite, it was frozen and full of ice.

Hmmm and they said it was http://www.eileenlikestoeat.commade tiramisu?
