[Garden Grove] [Korean] Cham Sut Gol Korean BBQ

Cham Sut Gol Korean BBQ

We haven't had Korean BBQ ever since moving down to Orange County.  That was 6 months without juicy Korean BBQ meat!  Both Dr. P and I were craving for it.  So he looked up Korean BBQ restaurants around the area on Yelp, and found Cham Sut Gol with the most and highest reviews.

We tried to call the restaurant in the afternoon to make a reservation for 2.  But they told us they only take reservation for larger group, and we should just go in early to avoid the wait.

So we went early and got to the restaurant about 5pm.  In about 30 minutes, the entire restaurant was full.  By the time we left, there were crowds of people waiting at the front and outside.

We decided to go with all you can eat dinner special for $16.99/person.  I think everyone in the restaurant was doing all you can eat.  The price was similar to the Los Angeles price, but here they don't serve kalbi (beef short rib) with all you can eat.  What?  No kalbi?  That's my favorite Korean BBQ item!

Banchan / Salad / Rice Noodle Sheet

We were presented with an assortment of Korean appetizers (banchan) after ordering.  Everything was good, except the kimchi.  Somehow I didn't like the flavor of their kimchi.  But the potato salad and glass noodle was really good.  There were also salad and rice noodle sheet to enjoy with the meat.  There was an Caucasian couple sitting right next to us.  We overheard them telling the waiter that they didn't order the banchan.  The waiter had to explain to them that those banchan were free.  He was really nice and even explained to them what each banchan was.  The couple most likely tried Korean BBQ for the first time.  They didn't know how to cook the meat not what the dipping sauces were for, the waiter was very patient and friendly.  He explained everything to them with a big smile.

Dipping Sauces

Two dipping sauces, and both were spicy.  One was light soy sauce with jalapeno, and the other one was hot chili sauce.

Thin Sliced Beef Brisket

After ordering all you can eat, the waiter didn't ask us what kind of meat do we want.  He just brought everything.  He put the Thin Sliced Beef Brisket with onion on our grill for us.  The brisket cooked quickly.  The meat quality was pretty good here.

Beef BBQ / Chicken BBQ / Pork BBQ

There were three kinds of marinated meat, beef, chicken, and pork.  We like the beef a lot.  Chicken was good, too.  Spicy pork was fatty and oily, and it tasted too heavy.  We put in a second order for the beef and chicken.

Short & Thin Skinless Pork Belly

We also got 2 pieces of Short & Thin Skinless Pork Belly.  haha.... That was the name on the menu.  The pork belly was placed in marinate sauce.  It was very good, and not too fatty at all.  The marinate sauce was great.  We used it to cook the brisket, too.

Thin Sliced Beef Brisket

For our second plate of the brisket, our waiter cut the grilled onion with scissor, and kind of made this stir fried beef brisket with grilled onion for us.  It was delicious!

Egg Pot

They called it Egg Pot on the menu, but it was steamed egg.  We just love Korean steamed egg.

Bean Paste Stew

Bean Paste Stew tasted like spicy tofu pot with anchovy.  Dr. P loved it.

We only had 2 plates of brisket, 1 small plate of beef/chicken/pork, plus 1/2 plate of beef.  We really didn't eat that much.  The meat was pretty good here.  We were happy with the food, and very impressed with the great service.  We were both in a major food coma after the meal.  But wait.... the meal didn't end there.

They also had all you can eat ice cream!

There were 3 flavors, strawberry, chocolate, and cookie-n-cream.

We left the restaurant happy, satisfied, and with two ice cream cones.  Yum!

  5. These all you can eat Korean BBQ places are really good deals. Especially if you are really hungry.

I wouldn't go unless I'm really hungry because it seems like I'm not getting the best of it.

We didn't get the best of it this time. haha....
Yeah you have to be REALLY hungry to go to those AYCE Korean BBQ restaurant.
