大腸麵線 Intestine Thin Noodle

Dr. P has been telling me that he's been craving for Ay-Chung's Oyster & Intestine thin noodle soup.  I never thought I could make something like that at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  But I did it!

大腸麵線 Intestine Thin Noodle

I didn't have any oyster, so just made it with intestine.  I was also missing chopped cilantro, bamboo shoot slices, and Chinese black vinegar.  But the flavor was there.  Dr. P and I both still thought it tasted really close to the restaurant version.  So how did I make it?

I cheated!  I made it from a "instant" package and cooked marinated intestine from 99 Ranch Market.  All I had to do was boil some water, add the noodle and seasoning pack, slice the intestine, add it to the noodle soup, then add potato starch to thicken the soup.  Done!

Even though it was simple as that, I still messed up a little.  I added the potato starch (太白粉) directly to the hot soup, and it became a big sticky lump in the soup.  I got the lump out and tried again.  On my second try, I put some hot soup in a small bowl, and added potato starch to the hot soup to mix, then added to the big pot.  Then I got lots of small lumps.  I tried my best to get all the small lumps out, and tried again.  On my third try, I mixed the starch powder with COLD water, and it finally worked this time!  I will not make the same mistake next time.  Dr. P did enjoyed the "boba" in the soup at first.  He was so cute and said, "look!  I have boba in my soup!  I like boba!!"  But later he said, "uh... honey... there are a little bit too much boba in my soup.  Can you not to add boba next time?"  hahahaha....

I am going to try to make this again at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  Next time I am going to add baby oyster as well, and I'll remember to buy cilantro, bamboo shoot, and black vinegar from the supermarket!  Oh and no boba next time.
