[Irvine] [Vietnamese] Pho Bac

After reading Wen's blog about Pho Bac, I've been craving for pho.  Last night we were looking for a cheap and fast restaurant to eat after 8pm (late dinner because we were too full from Souplantation lunch), and I thought of Pho Bac.  Dr. P remembered that last time he went to Philly's Best, Pho Bac, which is next door, was packed.

The restaurant is not that big, but they have a lot of outdoor seats.

Avocado Milkshake ($3.25)

Dr. P ordered Avocado Milkshake.  It was creamy and yummy.

Special Combo Pho ($6.85)

We ordered a large Special Combo Pho since it was only $0.50 more than a small bowl.  There were rare beef, well done beef, brisket, tendon, tripe, and beef balls in it.  The pho tasted pretty good.  The only complaint we had was the the soup was not hot, just lukewarm. The large bowl was huge.  The two of us shared and bowl and still couldn't finish.

The pho also came with a plate of bean sprout, mint, basil, cilantro, jalapeno, and lime.  Because the soup wasn't hot enough, the bean sprout was still raw in the soup.

Value Platter ($9.69)

1 Spring Roll, 2 Egg Rolls, House Salad, Rice Bowl, Beef Brisket Soup, Rib-Eye Beef / BBQ Pork / Pork Chop or / Charbroiled Chicken

We also ordered a Value Platter.  Lots of food!

Beef Brisket Soup

Beef Brisket Soup had the same soup as the pho, but instead of rice noodle, they added shell pasta in it.  What a strange combination!  But the soup tasted good.

House Salad

House Salad consisted of lettuce and shredded carrot with sweet fish sauce dressing.  Oh and a cocktail umbrella!

Spring Roll

Spring Roll had shrimp, cucumber, lettuce, and rice noodle inside.  This was just ok.  The dipping sauce tasted more like a hoisin sauce.  I prefer peanut sauce better.

Egg Rolls, BBQ Pork and Rice

There are 4 choices for the meat: rib eye, BBQ pork, pork chop, or chicken.  The waiter recommended BBQ pork.  The charbroiled pork was really tasty.  The yellow rice was great with some fish sauce.

Egg Roll

And I really like their crispy Egg Roll.  Next time I'll order a plate of Egg Roll for appetizer.

We had a lot of leftover.  It was enough for 2 meals today.  I like Pho Bac.  We'll be back soon.

    真的喔?我們喝到最後都湯不夠耶
    現在知道可以加湯,下次一定喝到夠本!
