(CLOSED)

I went http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com to have lunch with my parents today.  Since they wanted to go to Costco to do some shopping in the afternoon, they took me to this Chinese buffet right next to Costco called Great Shanghai Buffet.

My parents have been here twice before.  Lunch price is $7.99 per person.  My parents like the price, and the food as well.

This place actually reminded me of Zen Buffet.  But just like my parents said, the food at Great Shanghai is fresher and tasted better.  Well, maybe except the sushi.  I didn't like their sushi roll that much.  The spicy tuna roll had a weird aftertaste, and I could only assume the fish wasn't as fresh as it should be.  The gyoza was delicious!  And I also love the vermicelli glass noodle.

My second plate was Mongolian BBQ.  I came back to the table with this giant plate.  My parents thought I was crazy for taking this much food.  But it was all healthy vegetables... I tried to convince them, and myself.  haha...  The protein choices were beef, pork, chicken, lamb, and shrimp.  The beef had a really dark color and didn't look that fresh, but the other items looked good so I got everything else except beef.  Lamb was my favorite choice for Mongolian BBQ.  They had 4 different pre-made sauce available: garlic, spicy chili, teriyaki, and oyster sauce.  I just got a scoop of each because I couldn't decide which one I wanted.  The result was a little salty, but not too bad though.  And yes, I was being too greedy and couldn't finish the plate at the end.

I went back to get more of the glass noodle I liked.  Also grabbed a giant beef rib.  The rib was pretty good, but my mom's ribs were way better.  The spicy chicken wings were addicting.  If I was watching TV, I could probably eat a dozen of the these wings.

My parents said the fried little fish was good, so I went to get some.... then accidentally took more food with it.  Really like the gyoza.  Green beans was good, too.  Seaweed wasn't so good.  Egg tart was a little oily.  And the small fried fish, just like my parents said, it was really good.

Spicy and sour soup was horrible though.  It wasn't spicy, wasn't sour, just a whole lot of saltiness.

None of their dessert looked too appealing to me.  My dad had a piece of really dried cake.  My mom had some jello and watermelon.  I had some watermelon and it was sweet.  I went for the ice cream.  It was way too sweet.  It was like eating sugar flavor ice cream.  I couldn't finish it.

Great Shanghai has some good items, a lot of ok items, and some bad items.  But for only $8 a person, we sure got a lot of food.  If you go to get a burger + fries + drink, it probably would be about the same price.  Or going to the mall just to get one round of Mongolian BBQ, it'll be $8 already.  So I think it's worth the price.  I don't think this restaurant is good enough to make your way out here just to eat.  But if you live around the area and come to this Costco to shop, you can stop by to grab something to eat here.
