[West Hollywood] [American] Comme Ca

Open Table had an Appetite Stimulus Plan special offer in November that restaurants offered prix fixe lunch and dinner for $24/$35.  We picked Comme Ca to try their lunch.

Comme Ca by you.

The restaurant was quite busy during lunch time.  The interior of the restaurant has a chic but http://www.eileenlikestoeat.comy feeling to it.  But the tables are so close together so it felt a little crowded.  Also the restuarant was really loud.  The guests weren't really talking too loud, but it was the echoing.  Maybe it was the wall?  Or the floor?

Menu @ Comme Ca by you.

We both ordered the $24 3 course Prix Fixe lunch.  There were two choices for each course so we got one of each.

Bread & Butter @ Comme Ca by you.

Started with bread and butter.  I really like their creamy and soft butter.

Rose Carafe @ Comme Ca by you.
Rose Carafe ($14.00)

We also got a carafe of rose.  The name of the wine is Rose Vin de Pays la Benovie '05.  It tasted crisp and clean.

Roasted Pumpkin Soup @ Comme Ca by you.
Roasted Pumpkin Soup ($9.00)

Roasted pumpkin soup with hazelnut brown butter is sooooooo delicious.  We both agreed that this is the best pumpkin soup we've ever had.

Green Salad @ Comme Ca by you.
Green Salad

Green salad with Scarborough Farms field greens, shaved vegetables and balsamic vinaigrette was fresh, but nothing too special about it.

Roasted Chicken Breast @ Comme Ca by you.
Roasted Chicken Breast ($17.00)

I didn't think much of the roasted chicken breast at first.  Looking at it, I thought it would be dry, like the roasted chicken breast I tried to make at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  haha....  Dr. P had the first bite and said, "Mmmmmm.  Wow.  That's really good."  So I tried a bite.  Then I asked him if he wanted to switch dishes.  The chicken breast was so tender.  The flavoring was perfect, too.  And the best part, the skin.  It was served with fingerling potatoes and  sherry mustard vinaigrette.  The mustard was a bit strong for me, but Dr. P loved it.

Scottish Salmon @ Comme Ca by you.
Scottish Salmon ($18.00)

Scottish Salmon was great as well.  It was cooked perfectly.  It was served with roasted fennel, melted tomatoes and  bearnaise sauce.  I LOVE the roasted fennel.

Brioche Chocolate Pudding @ Comme Ca by you.
Brioche Chocolate Pudding

Dessert at Comme Ca came from Boule.  The Brioche Chocolate Pudding was great for the first few bites.  But this cake was so rich and sweet... too heavy.  I couldn't finish it.

Lemon Tart @ Comme Ca by you.
Lemon Tart

Lemon Tart was much better than the chocolate pudding.  It was tangy and light.

Cappuccino @ Comme Ca by you.
Cappuccino ($6.00)

Dr. P got a cup of cappuccino to go with the dessert.  It was a cup of really really strong cappuccino.

Bill @ Comme Ca by you.

We were really impressed with the food at Comme Ca.  Service was great.  But I didn't like the noise and the crowded feeling.  I heard they have really good breakfast/brunch.  Maybe we'll be back again to try it.

  1. I love food made from pumpkin!! Perhaps I should go there just to try the soup! Too bad the chocolate pudding was too sweet, it reminds me of the chocolate lava cake... rich but not sweet...

  3. Hi Eileen,

Nice review. :) To answer your question, "yes," unfortunately Comme Ca has had a problem with acoustic dampening since Day 1 when they opened up. Every visit I've had there has been LOUD (at Dinner it's even louder than when you go at Lunch, so be warned). It's unfortunate and detracts from the restaurant IMHO. :(

Their best meals are at Dinner. Some good French Brasserie food and their best dishes.

I'm surprised you couldn't finish dessert! (/shock) (^_~) But thanks for the warning on the Brioche Chocolate Pudding. :)
