Our dinner destination was Brophy Brothers at the harbor.  Dr. P heard good review about this restaurant from his cousin.

The restaurant is located on the second floor.  On the first floor they have a store selling Brophy Brothers t-shirts and stuffs.  Also there is a small bar.

We requested outdoor seating and went downstair to the bar to wait.

Also got the hot combination platter to go with our beer.  The platter included all of their hot appetizers.

Shrimp, mussels and clams.  Everything was fresh and delicious.

Garlic Baked Clams

Garlic baked clam was our favorite in this platter.  Super flavorful.

Oysters Rockefeller @ Brophy Brothers by you.
Oysters Rockefeller

But the oysters rockefeller wasn't too good.  The oysters had a fishy taste to it.  Maybe they used the not so fresh ones for this cooked dish.

Our buzzer went off after waiting for about 30 minutes.  We were seated on the upstair outdoor area.  You can also stand by their window/bar area to eat if you don't mind.

This was the harbor view from our seat.  Beautiful!  It got a little chilly, but they had the heat lamps on.

Bread @ Brophy Brothers by you.
Sourdough Bread

We started the meal with some sourdogh bread.  This bread was best to eat with soup.

Cold Combination Platter ($14.75)

We got the hot combo platter downstair, let's try their cold combination platter upstair.  It was really dark and kinda hard to see everything though.  This platter had oysters and clams on the half shell, ceviche, peel & eat shrimp and dungeness crab.

Everything was really fresh and really good.  The oyster is much much better than the one we had earlier.  We especially like the clams.

New England Clam Chowder @ Brophy Brothers by you.
New England Clam Chowder ($6.50)

Clam Chowder was full of big pieces of clam.  We dipped the sourdough bread in our soup.  Delicious.

Cioppino @ Brophy Brothers by you.
Cioppino ($12.75)

Dr. P requested Cioppino.  It's a tomato based fish stew topped with Parmesan cheese.  He really liked it.  I didn't eat any because I was so full at this point.  We even cancelled our main entree order because we were so full.

The food at Brophy Brothers was good.  The casual atmosphere was great.  Price is very reasonable.  It was a great find in Santa Barbara.

  1. hi,

i have been reading your food diary for a bout a year now and this is my first comment. The reason i decided to leave a comment is because your awesome posts on Santa Barbara. I went to school there for four years and it was truly an aweeeeesome place. (wouldn't pick anywhere else for college)

oh I also want to thank you for introducing me to those good eateries in the Los Angeles area and the Asian areas. I have tried so many good places because of you.

Anyways, this is a very helpful site for me and it's pretty cool of you to do this for everybody.

    have a good day.

  3. I've not been to Santa Barbara in several years. Traveled there often in 1990s and as recently as 2001. The Cioppino at Brophys is as good as it gets anywhere. Also, the blackened halibut with sides of rice and the cole slaw (the best everywhere), is anotehr great reason to eat there. Be sure to dine upstairs, at the bar, and get to know the staff. The return visit is even better.

Thanks for the info. We'll definitely visit again if we go back to SB.
