I spent the night at my parents' house. The next morning I felt like having dim sum, but was too lazy to go out to a restaurant. So mom and I went to Ocean Bo Dim Sum Cafe to get some take out dim sum for breakfast.

All the dim sum were in the dim sum counter. You can order off their menu, or just look at the food and tell the counter girl what you want. Some of the items had probably been sitting there for a long time though because some of the stuff we got were already cold.

All the dim sums are $1.90 each.

Except the last 5 items. Those are a bit more expensive, I think around $3.

筍尖鮮蝦餃 Shrimp Har Gow ($1.90) / 甫魚蝦燒賣 Pork Shiu Mai ($1.90) / 香茜魚翅餃 Shark Fin Dumpling ($1.90)

Shrimp Har Gow, Pork Shiu Mai, and Shark Fin Dumpling are the items I always get when I have dim sum. The pork shiu mai was good, although my mom said the pork tasted good because it had a lot of fat in it. Shrimp har gow was pretty decnet, too. Shark fin dumpling doesn't really have shark fin in it, so I don't know why they call it shark fin dumpling. I usually like this pork and cilantro filling dumpling a lot. But this time it was cold. It tasted like it had been sitting out for a long time because the dumpling wrapper was cold and hard.

菜肉鮮竹卷 Bean Curd Wrapped Meat ($1.90)

Bean Curd Wrapped Meat was my mom's favorite. There were a lot of bamboo shoots, which I like a lot, inside the bean curd wrapper.

香煎韭菜餅 Gow Choy Pork Cake ($1.90)

Chive Pork Gow had good flavor, but again, it was cold and the wrapper turned hard.

荷葉糯米雞 Sticky Rice with Chicken

Sticky Rice with Chicken was wrapped with lotus flower leaf. I love the aroma of the leaf in the rice.

雞尾包 Coconut Buns ($1.90)

I like the sweet coconut filling inside this coconut buns, but the bread was kinda hard. It would be much better if it was softer.

豉汁排骨飯 Steamed Spareribs & Chicken Feet Rice

I remember Ocan Bo's Steamed Spareribs & Chicken Feet Rice was good. But this time I had it, I didn't think it was good. The spareribs didn't have any flavor. I could barely tasted the black bean in the spareribs.

All the dim sum cost about $20. Ocean Bo didn't taste as good as before. But since it was really close to my parents' house, and it's not expensive, we still go there when we feel like having some dim sum and don't want to go too far. I was a bit disappointed that day. Next time I think I rather just go to a restaurant to have dim sum.

  1. Eileen,
I just strated reading your blog and I am hooked. I look up your review before I look at the yelp reviews now. Going to go try out the Chong Qing Mei Wei Szechwan Restaurant tonite.
Just a note, some of your older reviews that have a special character inthe restaurant's name or chinese characters are not coming up.

    Thank you, Sugzter! :-)
Yeah I know a lot of the links with Chinese characters are not showing up.
I am trying to fix it asap. Hope you'll like Chong Qing Mei Wei!
