We finally went back to our favorite non-Asian restaurant down in Orange County, K'ya Bistro. We made a reservation for an early Sunday dinner at 5:30pm. The restaurant was completely full by 6:00pm. We saw people got turned away without reservations.

Mojitos (Classic / Wild Berry) ($12.00)
Bacardi Silver, fresh mint & lime muddled & chilled to refreshing perfection

I bought one of those discounted voucher for K'ya Bistro from TravelZoo. The voucher was good for 2 mojitos and 2 dishes. Our waitress told us they would take off the two most expensive dishes form the bill. Nice! Dr. P ordered a classic moijto, and I got a wild berry one. Both are super good, AND SUPER STRONG! My wild berry mojito tasted like yummy wild berry juice. But after finishing half of the mojito, I started feeling slightly buzzed. Dr. P gave me half of his because he wanted to drink wine. I passed out in the car on our way home after 1.5 mojitos. haha....

Chianti Superiore, Italy, 06 ($28.00)

It was supposed to be 1/2 off bottle wine on Sunday. But since we were using the discounted voucher and they cannot combine it with other offer, we had to pay full price for the bottle. This Italian Chianti tasted warm and very smooth. We enjoyed it a lot. It would be a steal at 1/2 price. Guess we have to come back on another Sunday night.

Communal Charcuterie Platter ($14.00)
Pate, prosciutto, salami, chorizo

We ordered a Communal Charcuterie Platter to go with our drinks/wine. Everything on this plate was delicious. We especially enjoyed the prosciutto. We had the prosciutto with some honey mustard and red onion. It was the most delicious cured meat ever! We also liked the pate a lot. Dr. P liked to smear the pate all over his bread.

Cheese Plate ($5.00)

We always get the cheese plate to start the meal. The blue cheese was the best! I love having the blue cheese with some pear and walnut.

Filet Mignon Tips ($5.00)

Filet Mignon Tips was good, but nothing too special about it. The horseradish sauce was good. But for some reason this dish just didn't stand out comparing to other dishes we've had at K'ya Bistro.

Organic Arugula and Grilled Vegetables Salad ($5.00)
Virgin olive oil, pine nuts

Organic Arugula and Grilled Vegetables was the really good salad. Grilled asparagus and eggplants were really good. I love the salad dressing because arugula had a slight spiciness and bitterness to it, and the sweet salad dressing balanced the flavor very well.

Blackened Flat Iron Steak ($10.00)
Grilled vegetables and chipotle A-1 sauce

For our main entree, Dr. P ordered Blackened Flat Iron Steak. The steak was cooked to a perfect medium. The outside of the steak had very flavorful seasoning, and inside was pink, soft, and juicy. The chipotle A-1 sauce was pretty good. The grilled vegetables were all very yummy.

Thai Salmon Fillet ($10.00)

Their special of the night was a Thai style salmon fillet. I thought it sounded good when our waitress described it to us. The salmon had a sweet and spicy chili sauce all over it. It was cooked perfectly. The rice was made with some vegetable and brown butter. I love this dish, and think they should put this on their menu permanently.

Truffle Risotto ($5.00)
White wine, Parmesan cheese

If you only have $5 for dinner, forget about getting a burger combo at a fast food joint. Just go to K'ya Bistro and order yourself a Truffle Risotto. You will think that's the best $5 spent! This is seriously the best risotto ever! Dr. P said he never really cared much for risotto before. But after trying the Truffle Risotto at K'ya Bistro, he actually gets craving for risotto now. When we went there last night, he told me I can order anything I want. The only request he had was the Truffle Risotto.

Sweet Potato Fries ($3.00)

I always have to get their Sweet Potato Fries. The spicy dipping sauce was so good.

Coffee ($2.50)

Dr. P ordered a cup of coffee to sober up for our drive home.

Brownie Sundae ($4.00)

The two girls who sat next to our table ordered a few items to share. They shared everything, but for dessert they each ordered a brownie sundae. They were pretty light eaters. Didn't order much, and still had leftover to take home. But they both finished their dessert. Must be good. So when our waitress came over to take our dessert order, I pointed at their table and said "I want that." This is the BEST dessert! The warm brownie was rich, creamy, soft, and just melt in your mouth. The coffee ice cream pairs so perfectly with the brownie. I loved this dessert so much that I actually told Dr. P not to talk to me because I just want to enjoy the dessert. I got lost in my own sweet brownie world for a good 5 minutes! haha...

We love K'ya Bistro! I want to go back again already!!

  1. Eileen, do you know if K'ya Bistro & Bar is the same or if it's related to K'ya Street Fare in Anaheim? I saw K'ya Street Fare on OpenTable's 1,000 points/reservation list and remembered your post about K'ya Bistro (always looks sooooo good).

You only need 2,000 points with Opentable to get a $20 gift card: http://www.opentable.com/dip_profile.aspx?rid=14881&scpref=40

    HTH!

    Yup, they are related.
But I've never been to K'ya in Anaheim.
The one in Anaheim has different menu.
I think they have more Asian inspired dishes.
Are you going to try it? Will you let me know how is it afterward?

  2. We'll have to try for this for date night one of these days when we can find babysitting for our son.
Does this location have ocean view?

It's a PERFECT place for date night.
The restaurant doesn't have ocean view.
But once you go out the door, you can walk into the side street, go down the stairs, and you're on the beach!
