[San Gabriel] [Banquet] Mission 261 Restaurant

My brother got married on September 5th!  2 weddings within 1 month.  My parents were busy, but very happy.  :-)

Their wedding banquet was held at Mission 261.

The banquet menu for the night.  It was very similar to our banquet menu at Lunasia.  But on our wedding day, we barely had time to eat.  We only heard from friends and family about how good the food was, but we didn't get to taste it ourselves.  So for my brother's wedding, I was really looking forward for the 10 course Chinese feast.  haha....

My brother's choice of alcohols.  Yup, somebody's there to party!

Supreme House Special Appetizer Platter

Let the feast begins!  Supreme House Special Appetizer Platter had chicken, chashu (roast pork), more pork, beef, jellyfish, seaweed, and tofu.  Everything was great.

Prawns with Honey Glazed Walnut

I don't think I've ever met a person who does not like Prawns with Honey Glazed Walnut.  There's just something magical about a mouthful of fried shrimp, mayo, and candied walnuts.

Braised Shark's Fin Soup

Braised Shark's Fin Soup is a must-have at Chinese wedding banquet.

I like to have my soup with a spoonful of vinegar.

Sliced Abalone with Vegetables

Sliced Abalone, yum!  The bitter vegetable was quite tasty.

Lobster with Ginger and Spring Onions

When I go to friend's wedding and sitting with friends (or sometime strangers) at the same table, I usually just eat one little piece of lobster, with chopsticks of course.  But when I was sitting there with family at the same table, I ate 5 pieces of lobsters with my hands.  It was GREAT!  haha....

Peking Duck

Love the crispy skin with hoisin sauce with the soft bun.

Steamed Fish

Just like the blurry picture, my memory of the wedding started getting fussy at this point.  I guess having multiple glasses of red wine + vodka + crown royal could do that to you.

Dried Scallop with Vegetables

I think I had some vegetables, but I couldn't really remember exactly.

Fried Rice

Each of us got a little bowl of fried rice.  It was good, but the bowl was really small.

Red Bean Soup

Last course, red bean soup.

The wedding cake is from Van's Bakery in San Gabriel.

Congrats~~~~  Ayami & Jerry!!

P.S. I didn't take pictures at my own wedding. But if you would like to see the food from our wedding banquet at Lunasia, you can read about it at Wen's Blog.

  1. Mission 261 is a great restaurant and I'm glad they reopened after shutting down for awhile. It is kind of funny that their wedding reception serves the same food I eat on a random night, since I expected Mission 261 would make the food a little more special.

The food was good, but we thought portion was on the smaller side.
We heard that a lot of guests left the wedding hungry.
