After checking into our hotel, we immediately went out for one of the main purposes of visiting Las Vegas: BUFFET!  I am a big fan of Bravo's Top Chef.  M Resort was the host of last season's production.  For some reason, that made me feel M Resort must have really good food.  When I went online to look up their restaurants, I found out they have a buffet that offers UNLIMITED wine and beer!  Seriously?  All you can drink booze?  We are so there!

M Resort is not even in Las Vegas.  It's in the city of Henderson, which is about 15 minutes drive from Las Vegas.  The hotel was so new that I couldn't even find the location on my navigation system.  We actually had to call them for direction.  We got to the buffet around 8pm.  There was a pretty long line.

After waiting in line for about 50 minutes, we were finally in!

Sunday night seafood dinner buffet is $31.95 per person.  If you have a M Resort card (those free member cards that accumulate points when you gamble there), I think you get like $2 or $3 off per person.  We were too hungry and tired to go get the cards though....

The buffet is an "open kitchen" style buffet.  We could see the chefs cooking at each station.  They have a circular seafood station in the middle of the room, as well as cuisines from around the world along the wall.

Crab, Oyster, Shrimp, and Prime Rib

We didn't even sit down at our table, and just headed straight to the seafood station.  For my first plate, I got crab legs, oyster, shrimp, and a juicy piece of prime rib.  The prime rib was cooked perfectly.  It gotta be the best prime rib I've ever had in a buffet.  The crab legs was meaty and delicious.  Oyster was super fresh.  I think it only took me 10 minutes to finish this plate because (1) I was really hungry, and (2) the food was that good!

Crab, Oyster & Shrimp

Seriously, they have AMAZING seafood here.  Everything was just so fresh and good.

Crab & Prim Rib

Did I mention we LOVE the crab and prime rib?

Oh wait!  We can't forget about the all you can drink alcohol.  You can't order alcohol from servers.  You have to bring your ID and go to the bar to get it.  They had red wine, white wine, rose wine, and beers.  You can only get 1 drink at a time, but more than welcome to go back as many times as you want to, as long as you can manage to walk to the bar still.

White Wine & Red Wine

I don't really remember how many glasses I drank.... maybe 3 or 4?  Yeah I was pretty drunk that night, and totally got my money worth.

Braised Oxtail

Time for some cooked food.  Braised oxtail had meat that just fell off the bone.  So tender.

Sushi

Sushi was probably the only disappointment that night.  They had a very small sushi station with just a few selections.

Asian Hot Food

This was a plateful of Asian goodies.  Corn chowder was sweet and yummy.  Love the sauteed curry crab.  Clams were good, so was the kalbi.  Mussel wasn't so good.  It had a strange taste.  Like the spicy pad thai a lot.

Clam Chowder

And a bowl of clam chowder.

Crab & Oyster

Of course, more crab and oyster.  I looked around the dining room, and saw all the Asian customers busy eating crab legs.  But the non-Asians were just eating noodle and pizza.  I wish I can teach them how to eat buffet "properly".  haha....

Dessert time!  There was a constant line at the dessert station.

Lemon Ice Cream, Almond Tiramisu, Creme Brulee, Chocolate Mousse & Macaroon

I wasn't too greedy and only grabbed a few desserts that I like.  The chocolate mousse was soft and creamy with a crispy base.  So good!  Creme brulee was yummy.  Couldn't get enough of the almond tiramisu.  Dr. P's favorite was the lemon ice cream.  Macaroon was the only one I didn't like.

In case you still don't know, I LOVE CRAB!  M Resort has the best seafood buffet in Las Vegas!  Totally worth the money.  I want to go to Vegas again just so I can eat at M Resort's buffet!

  1. I am all for the desserts!!! They look so sophisticated, not just some cheap-looking super-frosted carrotcakes :P

The dessert was so good! It was in a perfect size too.
Small enough so we can try many things, but big enough to satisfy my sweet tooth.

  3. You reconfirm the fact that I really, really, really need to visit this place next time I visit vegas! I've read at least three posts on this buffet now :). Your photos give a good view of how big the buffet is and how big is the ice cream. I thought the ice cream would be ultra tiny but it isn't. Everything looks awesome!

It is cool that they do not open the crab legs in advance. That way they are more juicy, but they are also harder to open.

Yeah make sure you visit on the weekend for the seafood buffet.
Our friend said weekday's buffet is not good. We love love love love the crab legs.
They have both cold ones and hot ones. I think the hot ones tasted better.

  4. Good to see you got so many favor food.
Las Vegas ever came across our mind in this long weekend and some of our friend already there too.

Are you in LA? Vegas is only 4 hours away!
You can even go and come back in one day... haha....

  5. I totally laughed out loud at your comment about teaching Americans how to eat buffet, mainly because it brought back fond childhood memories of my Asian family eating buffet too. My mom would scold me every time I came back with something cheap like a chicken wing or an egg roll, and we'd always pile our plates high with crab legs (mmmm!) And that prime rib looks gloriously fatty. I'm glad to see you guys had a great time in Vegas. Your pictures make me wish I was there now!

Our Asian parents definitely taught us how to eat buffet the right way! haha....
Always go for the expensive seafood. Never get filled up on fried rice and egg roll.

  6. This looks SO delicious! I bet they have cheap room rates since they are outside of LV (and the bad economy). I may check into it and stay overnight there when I drive up from L.A. because I will not only eat plenty---but will drink a lot and I don't want to be driving afterwards. In the morning I will drive the rest of the way to Vegas. I would be so tempted to sneak some extra buffet food items back to my hotel room!

Dr. P looked up the rate. It's about $130/night.
It's a really nice casino. I will definitely go to their buffet again!
Yeah we were too drunk to drive back after dinner and ended up gambling there.
We both lost $$$. I think that's exactly what they want people to do.
Smart move with the free drink... haha....

  7. I just got back from eating at the M buffet. I saw your write-up and pics from here and went. It was very good. I usually like King Crabs more, but the snow crabs were very good, they had the cold ones and the steamed ones. We stayed at the Vdara...very nice. I still like the Bellagio Buffet...now if they improve their sushi selection, i might be going there more often. Have you eaten at the Universal Hilton Buffet next to Universal Studios...? Now that is the best anywhere. They have shark fin soup, king and snow crabs, oysters, seared ahi tuna, made to order handrolls, freshly made tacos, and many more...should go try. It's about $42 dollars a person. You will not regret it. They have it on Friday, Sat and Sun.

Let me know if you try it and how you like it. It is a must try.

I'm glad you enjoyed M Buffet, David.
Yes, I've been to Universal Hilton's buffet a few times.
I love the food and the elegant atmosphere there a lot.
It didn't feel like a busy and stressful buffet, but more like a fine dining restaurant.
Love the live piano performance, too!
Now I just wish I live closer so I can go more often.
