I have heard about how good The Boiling Crab's spicy seafood is for a long long time.  I also heard about how long the wait is at the restaurant.

So we picked a weeknight to try the Cajun seafood joint for the first time.  The wait shouldn't be that bad on a weeknight, right?  Wrong!  There were like 100 people waiting outside (ok maybe I'm exaggerating... but it felt like there were too many people waiting outside).  The hostess told us the wait for a table for 2 would be a minimum of 1 hour and 45 minutes!  Is the food good enough for a 1 hour 45 mins wait?  Hmmm.... So we asked the hostess if we could get the food for to-go.  She told us to walk a few doors down in the same plaza to their to-go store.

Luckily, the to-go place wasn't too busy.  We went in and placed our order.  20 minutes later, our food was ready to go.

The Whole Sha-Bang Shrimp ($8.99/lb), Corn on the Cob ($0.75/each), Sausages ($1.99/6 pcs)

So the ordering process at Boiling Crab is like this.  Order the seafood --> Add-on --> Seasoning --> Spiciness.  We ordered a pound of shrimp, with 2 corn on the cob and 6 pieces of sausages.  There are 4 different seasonings to choose from: Rajun Cajun (original), Lemon Pepper, Garlic Butter, or The Whole Sha-Bang (all the above).  We went for The Whole Sha-Bang and medium spicy.

The food smelt so good in the car on our drive http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  At first we thought the bag of food looked rather small.  But turned out there were more than enough food.  We couldn't even finish the shrimp.  The seasoning was so flavorful.  I love sucking on the shrimp head with all the juices!  The corn was so juicy and good, too.  Sausages was alright, a bit too salty.  Love the seasoning.  And medium spicy is actually really spicy.

Cajun Hot Wings ($4.99/6)

The Cajun Hot Wings were big and meaty, a lot bigger than the wings we get at other restaurants.  It had crispy fried skin with yummy Cajun seasoning, and juicy meat under the skin.  Very good wings!

Cajun Fries ($2.99)

Dr. P want to try how spicy their XXX spicy is, and ordered the Cajun Fries with XXX spicy.  On their menu, the description for XXX is "I can't feel my mouth".  That is a very accurate description.  It was so spicy  that my mouth and tongue was numb.  But with my numb mouth and tongue, I could still taste how good the fries are.

This was the mess after dinner.  Don't forget to ask for the wax paper like we did.  It helped cleaning up a lot easier.

Why did I wait for this long to try The Boiling Crab?  We love it!  I want to eat at their restaurant next time.  Maybe we can go super early, like 4pm or something.  But....  I think they use a lot of MSG because we were both super thirsty that night.  Oh well, for food taste that good, who cares about a little MSG?

  2. Man your post makes me drool. Their sauce is really good! But the wait is always terrible so we get to-go every time..

I used the leftover sauce with some ground beef and made spicy fried rice. ^^

  6. It is super easy to make. You use whatever seasoning you like, saute them in olive oil, then put the shrimp in them to cook. Depends on how spicy you want, because we have kids, I don't do too spicy. I usually use paprika, dried thyme, salt, nutmeg, garlic powder, cayenne pepper. Other times I just boil the shrimp and eat without anything seasoning. The shrimp itself is super sweet, taste very good on its own. As for the corn, you just mix all the seasoning together and put them together in a zip lock bag with corns, shake it up, overnight/or just leave in the bag for several hours for the seasoning to sunk in. Put in the oven or grill them.

That does sounds easy. I want to figure out what are in their Cajun seasoning.
I love just eating shrimp by itself, too. When shrimp is fresh, it tastes so sweet.
I like dipping in the Chinese style soy sauce with chili and cilantro, too.
