It was our annual Christmas get-together brunch with the girls (and our boys too this year).  The choice was between Taps or El Torito's Sunday brunch.  Taps has a pretty nice seafood brunch, but the price tag is about $35/person.  Jennifer and Peter has been to El Torito's Sunday brunch before.  They said the food was great, and the price is only half of Tap's.

There were 12 of us.  Sunday brunch was $17.49 per person.  We were seated in the nice outdoor patio overlooking the 57 freeway and Brea Mall.  Brunch also included free non-alcoholic drinks.  We had a large group, but the servers were attentive and friendly.  They kept on coming to refill our drinks or pour us more water.

Strawberry Mojito ($4.95)

I started my brunch with a glass of Strawberry Mojito.  Well, it tasted more like strawberry soda with mint.  I couldn't really taste (nor feel) much alcohol.  But it was only $5, and it was still yummy.

Sunday Brunch ($17.49/person)

I went inside the restaurant to get my first plate.  The restaurant wasn't all that big, but there were so much food in there that it was actually a little overwhelming the first time I walked through the buffet line.  I had trouble deciding what I was going to get.  Dr. P was going to get some breakfast egg stuff, so I decided to go for the hot cooked food.  I got some mahi mahi, enchilada (both the red sauce and white sauce kinds), shrimp, calamari, and ribs.  Mmmmmm ribs!  The ribs were super tender and good!  I was really surprised how good the ribs were.  I love the enchilada as well.  Actually I like everything on my plate.

Eggs Benedict & Ham

Dr. P's first plate was Eggs Benedict with a giant piece of ham.  Our friend Peter absolutely loved the eggs benedict.  He ate like 6 of them.  The egg dishes were made fresh at the egg station.  Sybil got some omelet and it looked really good too.

Menudo

Dr. P got a bowl of Menudo soup.  I had a few sips, and it was great.  I actually wanted my own bowl, but was too busy chatting with friends and didn't go get one.  Now I want my menudo soup!

Ribs & Prime Ribs

This was my Ribs x 2 plate.... haha.  BBQ Ribs + Prime Ribs.  I couldn't get enough of those BBQ ribs.  The prime ribs was a bit overcooked for my taste.  I prefer it medium and pink.

Taco

Dr. P got two tacos, carnita and carne asada.  We both like the carnita a little more.  The green guacamole sauce was actually quite spicy, but really good.  Taco was freshly made to order at the taco station.

Horchata

Got a glass of Horchata to go with my dessert.

Hot Banana with Ice Cream

Dessert was banana cooked on hot stove with some kind of liquor that made fire (haha) with a scoop of ice cream.  YUM!  They had a lot more dessert selection, but I just didn't have time to go back to get more.

Seriously, I could eat a lot more.  But I couldn't eat and talk at the same time, and most of the time I was busy talking.  haha....  I really want to go back to El Torito again and just eat!  The food was delicious, service was great, and price is more than reasonable for the food that we got.  I will be back again very very soon!

We played this game called White Elephant to exchange presents.  It was a lot of fun.  I love my girls!  Hope to see you girls again soon!

And our boys.  Thank you for joining us!

  2. Cool, new place for Sunday brunch. But it is so strange, when I went to the website, it does not show the Brea location.

I didn't find it on their website, either.
    It's kinda strange....
