(CLOSED)

I've been wanting to try Restaurant 15 since it was first opened.  They have a special 3 course tasting menu from 5:00~6:30pm daily.  The special used to be $15 @ 15, but recently the price was raised to $19.  I don't know.... $19 @ 15 just doesn't sound as good as $15 @ 15, right?  But it was still a pretty good deal though.

We drove down to Echo Park and immediately noticed the neighborhood isn't that nice.  The restaurant was located next to a taco stand and a liquor store.  I wouldn't expect there is a nice restaurant on this street.

Once we walked the restaurant, it was a completely different than the outside environment.  The restaurant has a beautiful open bar with very modern decor.  The hostess and the waiter were both very friendly and polite.

'06 Red Truck, Pinot Noir, California ($8.00)

Dr. Park ordered a Pinot Noir.

Guava Mojito ($9.00)

I usually don't order drink in restaurant.  But the Guava Mojito caught my attention on the drink menu.  It was made with rum, guava puree, fresh mint, simple syrup, fresh lime juice and soda.  This was one delicious mojito.  Love it!

Cucumber Water @ Restaurant 15 by you.
Cucumber Water

I even like their water!  They added a piece of cucumber with the water.  I never knew water can taste so refreshing with cucumber.  I should do this at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com all the time.

The '15' Mac n Cheese ($7.00)

For the appetizer course, Dr. Park ordered The '15' Mac n Cheese.  This was no ordinary mac n cheese.  I don't know how they did it, but it didn't taste as heavy as normal mac n cheese.  It was light, yet cheesy.  Simple, with great flavor.

Heart of Palms, avocado, red bell peppers & red onions over baby mix greens ($9.00)

I ordered the heart of palms salad as my starter course.  We love this salad!  Heart of palms and avocado, yum!  At first glance, we thought there was no dressing on the salad.  But yet the mix greens were full of flavor.  How did they do it?

Free range pork loin cutlets w/ Chipotle mashed potatoes & corn salsa ($18.00)

Dr. Park ordered the pork loin as main course.  The pork was cooked perfectly.  The sauce was delicious, especially with the potatoes.

Seared Salmon over wild rice w/ Shaved fennel & Watermelon ($18.00)

I ordered seared salmon.  On the menu it said "seared salmon with black rice and watermelon", but there was no watermelon on the plate.  The people next to us ordered the same dish and they asked about the watermelon.  The watier informed them that there was no watermelon on that day.  Well, too bad.  This dish was a little disappointing.  Even though the salmon was cooked right, it lacked flavor.  When salmon has no flavor,  it just tasted like fishy salmon.  I like Dr. Park's pork much better.

Chocolate Croissant Bread Pudding With Warm Caramel @ Restaurant 15 by you.
Chocolate Caramel Bread Pudding

There was only one kind of dessert.  No choice.  This bread pudding was to die for.  Chocolate marble bread pudding was moist and so good.  Topped with caramel sauce and whipped cream.  I couldn't get enough of it.  I even stole half of Dr. Park's.

We like Restaurant 15.  The food was great, except the salmon.  Service was good as well.  The only problem was we thought the portion was a bit small.  I was only almost full and Dr. Park was still hungry.  We both had pizza when we got http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  The couple who sat next to us shared one tasting menu.  I don't know how they did it.  Maybe it was just us?  Maybe we eat too much?

  1. wa! This restaurant looks perfect for me! I am looking forward to go try it. But the only problem is i can't find the PORK LOIN which Dr. Park orded in it's website 3-course tasting menu. Did they recently change this dish to SKIRT-STEAK?? because my boyfriend and I both don't eat beef.
