Minaret Vista, Hot Creek Hatchery & Crowley Lake

Last day of our Mammoth trip, we woke up around 10am.  On the drive to Los Angeles, we stopped by a few more places before heading http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.

Roast Beef Sandwich ($6.95)

Dr. Park wanted to have breakfast at the hotel restaurant, but the breakfast buffet was $18/person.  Too expensive!  So he just went down to the store in the hotel to bet a roast beef sandwich.  It was also pretty pricy for a little sandwich in the fridge, but it was from Patina.

Roast beef, red onion and arugula.  Nothing special about it.  But it got Dr. Park full.  After eating and packing, we left our hotel and headed to Devils Postpile National Monument.

When we got the entrance, we found out that we had to take a shuttle from the down the hill to enter the park.  It was too much trouble so we just went across to Minaret Vista lookout point.

There was also a picnic area up here.  A lot of people were just sitting here chatting and looking at the beautiful view.

Next stop was the Hot Creek State Fish Hatchery along the 395 freeway.

It was my first time in a hatchery.  This one is a California state operated trout hatchery.

1 quarter got me a handful of trout feed.

It was pretty fun feeding the fish.  They sometimes even jump out of the water to get the food.

This is where they keep the baby trout.  Notice the wires above so the birds wont get in and eat them.  These little trout babies were really cute.  I started feeling a little guilty about having trout for dinner the night before.

The other side of the hatchery is a cattle farm.  Yeah, we also had beef the night before as well.  Guilty guilty....

Last stop was the Crowley Lake.  Camping or taking the boat out in the lake to fish is $10/day.  We told the guard we were just there to sightseeing for 15 minutes and he let us in for free.  The lake looked like a small ocean with tiny waves.

We walked along the lake for a bit before getting on the 395 freeway to drive back to LA.  Love the sun, fresh air and water here.  The Eastern Sierra is so beautiful.  We definately will be back again.
