I had a coupon for a free birthday meal in the month of February (my birthday month) from Claim Jumper because I signed up for their email list.  The free meal was up to $30 value!  So generous of them.  Dr. P and I went there for lunch on a Friday.  The restaurant was filled with parents with kids.

New England Clam Chowder ($4.49)
Thick and creamy with premium clams, potatoes, onions and celery

After we placed our order, the waitress asked if we would like to add a cup of soup or a side salad to our entree.  Dr. P thought a cup of soup sounded good, and picked New England Clam Chowder to add.  The clam chowder was really good.  Lots of clam, and I like the crunchy celery and onion that they added to the chowder.  But when we saw the price on the bill, we thought this was one expensive added on item.  Normally restaurants let you add a side for like $2 or $3.  But this added on soup was $4.49!  Almost 50% of our entree!!

Rotisserie Chicken ($11.99)
Our original recipe since 1977. A half chicken seasoned, slow cooked over open flames and roasted to perfection. Served with mashed potatoes & Garlic Cheese Toast

We decided to order off their lunch special menu.  Dr. P picked Rotisserie Chicken (dinner price $14.99).  When we saw the plate, we just thought it looked like something was missing.  I think they should add some green color to the plate to make it look better, like a small salad, or some vegetable, or even just some parsley.  The chicken was very tender.  The breast was very moist and soft.

BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs (Half Rack) ($12.99)
Our original tender ribs basted with our signature, smoky mesquite BBQ sauce then flame-broiled. Served with mashed potatoes & Garlic Cheese Toast

I can never resist it when I see ribs on the menu.  I got the half rack BBQ Baby Back Pork Ribs lunch special (dinner price $20.99).  The ribs were great, but I think half rack was just not enough for me.  I wanted more!!  Garlic cheese toast was fatty and yummy.  Mashed potatoes was creamy and pretty good, too.

Red Velvet Cupcake ($2.99 Free)
A southern classic with a hint of chocolate, topped with vanilla bean & cream cheese frosting

Since I used the birthday free meal coupon, our waitress brought us a red velvet cupcake for free.  That was really nice.  The cupcake was way too sweet for our taste though.  We each had a few bites, and just couldn't eat it anymore.

Claim Jumper's lunch is cheaper, but portion was small.  When I go to Claim Jumper, I think I still prefer the gigantic portion.  Isn't that what Claim Jumper is all about?

  1. They should at least given you double (or triple) of the potatoes and bread. Those sides are inexpensive and customers would leave feeling more full & satisfied.

    I know!
By the way, I just had strawberry sundae from Costco.
And I thought of you while I was having it, haha...

  3. Oh, of all the places I sign up for their email benefits, I forgot about Claim Jumper. haha, thanks! I've never been there for lunch, just dinner. Yeah, I think dinner is much more worth it - it feeds me for a couple of meals! haha. I'm surprised they give you so little mashed potatoes. It doesn't look proportional to your meat. Oh well. Less carbs? lol :) I have a huge sweet tooth (red velvet is my faaavorite!) so maybe I'll get the birthday cupcake in 9 months :P

    haha.... remember go for dinner!
The free birthday meal coupon is good for up to $30!
Silly me went for the $13 lunch. :-(
Next year, I'm going to get $30 worth of food for sure!
