[Irvine] [Bakery] Le Napoleon Patisserie

Another great Groupon deal I bought: $10 for $20 Worth of Coffee, Pastries, and More at Le NapolĂ©on Cafe.  I read their reviews online.  People raved about their yummy macaroons.  Unfortunately, I found out in the shop that I could not use Groupon to buy any macaroons.  They should've specified that in the fine print though.

Strawberry Croissant from Cream Pan

The first thing that caught my eyes was this yummy looking strawberry croissant.  It tasted even better than it looked.  The flaky croissant + creamy cream + fresh sweet strawberry!!  Later I found out the Croissant was from the famous Cream Pan in Tustin.  I really want to pay Cream Pan a visit now.

Tiramisu

Tiramisu didn't taste like traditional tiramisu, but more like a tiramisu cake.  It was really good though.

Creme Brulee

In the morning, I thought I would try a bite of the creme brulee, and I ended up eating the whole thing for breakfast.  It reminded me of Chinese egg tart.

Chocolate and Orange Bread

The combination of chocolate and orange in a bread sounded interesting.  It was surprisingly good.  Big pieces of chocolates mixing with bread that tasted like orange peel.  I liked it.

Croissant

All that pastry came to about $19.  The lady suggested me to get a croissant.  She said it was very good.  I thought there would be something in the middle.  But nope, it was just a plain croissant.  It wasn't bad, but nothing special.  So with the Groupon, I only had to pay $1.

I really want to try the macaroon.  Next time I'm in Irvine Spectrum, I'll come by to get a few macaroons.

  1. i bought two Groupon~~the first time I used it on sandwiches~~and they were horrible~~bread was like 2 days old~~so hard and dry~~and the ingredients were so little~~not worth the price even after the groupon discount~~

the second time i tried to use the second groupon on macarons~~and was declined~~since the restriction was not in the fine line~~i requested a refund from Groupon and got my refund within a day :)

macarons from le napoleon are actually from Paulette in BH~~just like strawberry croissant from cream pan~~i personally rather get them from their original store~~

I wasn't too happy that they wouldn't accept Groupon for macaroons.
The desserts were pretty good. But I wanted macaroons!
Also the lady who works there wasn't very friendly in my opinion.
She wasn't rude or anything, just never smiled.

  2. Cream Pan is my favorite bakery! We used to go every other day and we wondered where our money was going. haha. I love their blueberry croissant bread, azuki pastry, and their regular loaf bread. Did you ever go to Orange Mining Company? We just went for happy hour yesterday night and it was wonderful to see the sunset and city view. $4 beers and 1/2 off appetizers. Their spinach artichoke dip in sourdough bread and wings were awesome. You gotta go for their view and I hear their food's better than Orange Hill restaurant.

I bought a Groupon for Orange Mining Company's brunch.
Will definitely check out the place real soon.
I have to pay Cream Pan a visit and try all those yummy bread you mentioned!!

  3. toast and kotsu pan in cream pan is really good too. sometimes they even has pasta. (they closed Mondays and on other days they closed @ 4pm)

Le Napoleon makes money when they sell those products which they purchased from other stores.
Strawberry Croissant costs $.75 more than cream pan while macarons costs $.20 more than Paulette.

they said they save you gas so you do not need to drive to Beverly Hills..
but when i asked Tustin (cream pan) is closer to Irvine..why you charged more in strawberry croissant, the cashier stop to make other excuses

Do they make any fresh pastries?
Maybe they purchase all pastries from other places and mark up the price?
I don't think bakery should operate that way.
Then can I open a restaurant but all my food are catered from other restaurants with marked up price?
