[Shopping] Three Dog Bakery

I bought a Groupon deal for Teddy and Twinkle: $15 for $30 Worth of All-Natural, Fresh-Baked Eats and Treats for Pooches at Three Dog Bakery in San Clemente.  They have lots of yummy looking cakes for dogs.  But.... are they good for dogs?  What did they use to make the cakes?  Butter?  Cream?  Food coloring?  I don't know.  I just didn't feel comfortable to buy the cakes for Teddy and Twinkle.

Dog Biscuits ($1.50/each)

So I bought some traditional dog biscuits.  Teddy and Twinkle seemed to like the smell and taste of the biscuits, but it was too hard for them to chew.  My sister helped breaking them into smaller pieces for them to eat.

Bully Sticks ($8.00/each)

Teddy and Twinkle LOVE bully sticks.  They used to spent the whole week to chew up one.  Now they can finish a 12" stick in 2 days.  Those sticks are kinda expensive and stinky.  But I love giving them to Teddy and Twinkle as special treat because they are sooooo happy when they chew.

Assorted Dog Treat Bag ($4.50/each)

I also got 3 bags of assorted dog treat.  Their favorite one is the little one bite treat from the bag in the bottom part of the picture.  Some of the bigger treats were too hard for them to chew.  Also I don't think the chocolate looking donut was made with chocolate because everybody knows chocolate is poisonous to dogs.  So what was it?  I don't know.  But Twinkle got upset stomach after eating it.

I found a Three Dog Bakery Cookbook online.  But Teddy and Twinkle don't seem to like their treats too much.  Too bad....

  1. nice! i didn't know there is a three dog bakery in san clemente~~i only know pasadena and the grove~~mochi loves desserts from there~~once in a while~~food coloring is ok lah :P

When I go to pet store to buy them treat,
I was surprised to read how many products have food coloring in the food.
Dogs don't care about the color of their food.
Why add it then?? Don't understand.

  4. the chocolate stuff is not the real chocolate.
    They use the 角豆.
It looks like smells like tast like chocolate.
    But won't heart them.
But If let your dog upset they might put too many baking poder or the yeast.
How to make a hard biscuits is to lower the temperature and bake longer.

    Thanks for the information, Feelicia!

This is some information about 角豆(Carob).

I actually tried a tiny bite of the biscuit myself. haha...
Just wanted to make sure it wasn't chocolate.
It tasted similar to chocolate but I could tell it wasn't.
Now I know what it is. Thank you, Feelicia!
