We arrived at Barcelo Langosta Beach around 3pm.  This is an all-inclusive hotel.  I was really looking forward to staying here for the endless buffet all day long.

The hotel staff welcomed with with some fruity drink.

Fruit Punch

Cheer to the 7 hour long bus ride!

We checked in at the front desk, and each of us got a wrist band that we were supposed to wear the entire time we stayed at this resort style hotel.  With the wristband, we could eat, drink, play, do activities, and go to the nightly show for free.  Our tour guide told us to go eat lunch first while the bus driver and hotel staff unload our suitcases from the bus.  The open dining room has a nice pool view.

It wasn't a big buffet.  They had about 5 or 6 different salad/cold appetizers every meal, along with fresh veggies and dressings for us to make our own salad if we preferred.

For the hot food, there were always some rice dish, some pasta dish, beef, pork, chicken, and fish.  Yeah, I didn't know why I would fill up on spaghetti with meat sauce in Costa Rica, but it was good.  In fact, EVERYTHING was delicious.

But for some reason, I didn't like their ice cream.  It just didn't taste right.  The texture was not creamy, but more icy.  The strawberry flavor tasted artificial.  Didn't like it.

After lunch, we picked up our suitcase and walked over to our hotel room.

The hotel room wasn't that big, but it was pretty comfy and cozy.

They even had Chinese TV channel here.

Our room was on the first floor.  This was the view from the back patio.  We saw monkeys on the trees outside.  That night, I also saw something kinda creepy.  We were hanging out in the room, and I saw a pair of legs and feet walking by our patio door, but.... I didn't see the upper body of this "person".  The legs looked like dark shadow.  I went outside to look, but there was nobody out there.  Dr. P assured me that it must be a security guard walking around.  I told myself to believe Dr. P so I wouldn't be scared.

Anyway, we went exploring the hotels after dropping off our luggage.  They have a GIANT pool.

Hey, look who was hanging out by the pool side?  It was a raccoon looking for something to eat!

He was walking around like he owned the place.  He didn't care about the people at all.

The hotel also has their own beach, which was pretty nice.

Dr. P was really happy to be at the beach.

He just couldn't wait to get into water.

Then Dr. P's stomach started to acting up so we decided to go back to the room.  Walked by this cute little kitty cat.

Dr. P's tummy wasn't feeling good.  But I was perfectly fine (so I thought).  We went back to dinner buffet, and I was glad that I could still eat.  They had some really delicious squid and tripe that night.  I was kinda feeling sorry for Dr. P because he couldn't really enjoy the food.

Then who knew I had the same fate as Dr. P after this plateful of food....  That night both of us probably made a hundred trips to the bathroom.  Costa Rica is awesome.  Diarrhea definitely isn't.

  1. Just wondering why they gave you a two-bed room instead of a one-king room for honeymoon couples, and if it was the cinnamon roll or the buffet food that led to diarrhea/food poisoning.

We actually paid for upgraded hotel option with the travel agency.
But we checked in at the same time with the entire tour group of about 60 people.
So I guess the hotel messed up and just gave us a standard room like everyone else.
Both of us were too sick to even notice it until after we left the hotel. Oh well....

  2. yeah, the agency messed up there. In fact we should've gotten an upgrade. I think it was normal 24 hr travelers diarrhea, no biggie unless you're on a bus or a plane :)

The pool at langosta resort was the warmest and biggest one I've ever been in. I liked the resort and the prime time location right on the beach!

All I remember about Langosta Resort was bed and bathroom. :-(
