We really enjoyed our food at Hotel Fonda Vela's restaurant the night before, and decided to return again on our 2nd night there.

With a fireplace in the room, and a candle on the table, the small dining room was cozy and romantic.

We were served some warm and soft dinner roll.

Sopa de tortilla / Tortilla Soup ($5.00)
A base de pollo, tortilla frita, tomate, queso derretido, chile, cebolla, culantro y aguacate
A chicken based soup, with strips of tortilla, tomato, peppers, avocados, and melted cheese

Dr. P ordered a bowl of Tortilla Soup.  He loved it, and said the soup tasted very clean.

Fettuccine Monteverde ($9.00)
Pasta with cream sauce with chicken, mushroom, parmesan cheese, basil, and tomato

I had no idea why I was craving for pasta.  I ordered Fettuccine Monteverde.  The fettuccine was overcooked and too soft.  The cream sauce was just alright.  But I liked the mushroom and chicken.

Filete Mignon / Filet Mignon ($16.00)
Un medallon de carne cubierta con tocineta, salsa de hongos, verduras y pure
A cut of tenderloin wrapped in bacon and covered with mushroom sauce, vegetables, mash potatoes

Dr. P ordered Filet Mignon.  The beef was so lean in Costa Rica that they had to stack two pieces together to make it the American filet mignon thickness.  The beef wasn't as fatty, so it wasn't as juicy as the filet mignon we were used to.  But the meat was just as tender, and the taste was way way way better.  Grass fed beef really tastes better.  The sauteed side vegetable was really good.

We were tired from walking all day.  After dinner, we went straight to bed.  Gotta wake up to drive to the beach the next morning.
