[Mammoth Lakes] [Bakery] Shea Schat's Bakkery

Shea Schat's Bakkery

The second day at Mammoth, our plan was to hike all day.  We woke up around 9am and drove down the hill to Shea Schat's Bakkery for breakfast.

Erick Schat's is the original bakery is located in Bishop.  I am not sure if Shea Schat's at Mammoth Lakes is related to Erick Schat's.  They sell the same items and both share the name "Schat's".  So I am assuming they are related?

It's a Dutch bakery.  They bake all their bread daily.  They are especially famous for the Sheepherder Bread.

Orange Juice ($3.99) / Coffee ($1.75)

There is a dining area inside the bakery.  We sat down for a quick and delicious breakfast.  Dr. Park got coffee, and I got freshly squeezed orange juice.

Egg & Ham Croissant ($4.25)

We got two breakfast croissant.  One had egg and ham.

Egg, Ham & Cheese Croissant ($4.75)

The other one is egg, ham and cheese.  The croissant was baked perfectly.  Egg, ham and cheese with the croissant was the perfect combination.  Add a dash of hot sauce, this was a very satisfying breakfast.  Perfect meal before a long hike.

There's a deli section inside the bakery.  We decided to buy a sandwich to bring with us for lunch.

We ordered a full roasted turkey sandwich, which was big enough for two of us.  Surprisingly, there was a freshly roasted turkey.  The lady carved some turkey breast meat for our sandwich.

Roasted Turkey Sandwich ($7.95)

We brought the sandwich with us and had a picnic in the forest.  The sandwich was so good that I totally forgot to take picture until we were almost done.  The turkey was so moist.  Fresh tomato, red onion and lettuce on sourdough bread.  The sandwiche also came with pickle and two pieces of white chocolate chip cookies.

Macaroon

We also bought some coconut macaroon.  I loved the chocolate covered one.  Sorry, no pic.  It was already in my tummy when I wanted to take a picture.

Fruit Danish

I also picked this fruit danish to bring for snack.  This was the best fruit danish I've ever had!  Perfect pastry with sweet cream and slightly tart fruits.  Perfect balance.

Inside the bakery, there were plenty of samples to try.  I tried many items and especially like the Jalapeno and Cheese bread.  Before heading back to LA, we stopped by the bakery again to bring some bread back for our family.  My dad loves the jalapeno cheese bread.  My mom loves their banana and nuts bread.  I also got garlic and cheese bread, but it was way to garlicky for our taste.

I really love this bakery.  This will always be a stop for me if I am in the area.
