Lorelyn's Wedding Party

Our manager, Lorelyn, is getting married.  It will be a very small and simple wedding.  Since there is no reception for the wedding, we decide to have a small potluck party at work to celebrate the special occasion for her.  Everybody brought delicious food (except that selfish old Korean guy, John.  I have to write another post just for him).

Turkey, Ham & Cheese Pinwheels

I made pinwheel wraps.  Whole wheat tortilla, feta & spinach cheese spread, turkey, ham, and 2 different kinds of cheese.  This appetizer dish was very easy to make.  Great snack for kids, too.  This dish was gone in 5 minutes.

Fried Rice

Kai made fried rice.  All the veggies were chopped into tiny pieces.  Seemed like a lot of work.  This fried rice was really good, especially good with some of the spicy dishes.

Chicken and Green Bean

Pedro made chicken and green bean with a sweet sauce.  It tasted Japanese, and he learnt this dish when he was in Japan.  The flavor was good, but chicken was a little bit dry.  I still love the dish because it was from a single guy who normally doesn't cook.  Great effort!

Jellyfish Salad

Iris made jellyfish salad.  She placed the jellyfish in boiling water for 3 seconds.  After that, placed in cold water for 4 hours.  The cold water had to be changed every 30 minutes.  Lots of work!  Add sliced cucumber, celantro, sesame, and the salad was done.  I love this refreshing seafood salad.

Potato Salad

Peter brought patato salad.  His wife made it.  It's the Asian style potato salad with corn, pea, carrot, cucumber and rasin.  So yummy.

Spicy Tofu

Tracy made spicy tofu.  This dish was great with rice.  She was afraid it might be too spicy.  But everybody loved it.

Indian Curry Chicken

Monica made Indian curry chicken.  Very flavorful.  I love the curry sauce with rice.

BBQ Pork

David bought BBQ Pork from Sam Woo.  Crispy skin, tender meat, dipping in Hoisin sauce, delicious!

Fruit Salad

Mayumi made fruit salad.  Fresh salad with raspberry, cranberry and yuzu.  Very refreshing.

Shik Hae (Traditional Korean Rice Drink)

Tom brought shik hae, a traditional Korean rice drink.  His mom made 3 big jars for us.  It was made with rice and sugar.  Tasted sweet and very good.

Cupcakes from Dots

Claire bought cupcakes from Dots.  Iris and I shared two so we both sampled two flavors.

We picked a coffee cupcake and a mint chocolate cupcake.  Both were good.  I think Dots is better than crumbs.  The cupcakes at Dots are moist and not as sweet as Crumb's.

We also got Lorelyn 3 presents.  Two pretty lingeries and a gift card.  Her husband-to-be should be happy.

It was a fun potluck party.  I love everybody's food and only wish my stomach could fit more food in.  We should have a potluck party every month!  Well, but that selfish and cheap John will not be invited, ever!

  2. That John sounds like an interesting character. Is he cheap or just selfish?? Jeez, bringing something isn't hard.

  3. Usually potlucks will have some strange and boring items, but you guys had some great looking food there and good variety. Western, Indian, Cantonese, Chinese, and even healthy salads and cupcakes.. very nice!
