It was Chinese New Year's Eve yesterday.  I was in a festival mood and I wanted a drink at 3pm.  Happy hour time!  I remember seeing Elephant Bar's happy hour menu when we were there last time.  The food looked good, and price was also good.

We got there around 4pm, and the place quickly filled up.  Seemed like Elephant Bar's happy hour is a big hit with senior citizens.  There were many many silvered hair ladies drinking and partying.  Definitely the "in" spot for the senior community!  :-)

The fire pit at the bar was cool.  I want to sit in front the fire next time.  Gotta go there early to grab the hot seats.

Happy hour drink menu.  Good price!

Happy hour food menu.  I wanted to order soooo many things!

Blue Moon Beer ($4.00) / Classic Mojito with Cruzan Estate Rum ($4.00) / Coffee ($2.40)

Blue Moon Beer for Dr. P (and he also got the coffee to sober up after beer haha...), and mojito for me.  The mojito was pretty sour and pretty good.

We took pictures while waiting for the food.  I told Dr. P to give me a "happy new year" look, and this was what he did.  So there.  Dr. P is saying "HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR" to everyone.

Dr. P took a blurry picture of me while I was looking at other people's food.  I actually kinda like this photo.  haha....

Three Cheese Macaroni ($3.00)

Yeah!  Food!!  Ever since I had the BEST macaroni and cheese at Scott's, I always want to order mac and cheese when I see it on menus now.  Elephant Bar's Three Cheese Macaroni definitely cannot compared to Scott's truffle mac and cheese.  But for $3, I am not going to complain.  It wasn't as cheesy as I would like it to be, but it was still decent.  I like the crunchy croutons they had in the pasta, too.

Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders ($4.00)

Hand-Breaded Chicken Tenders was surprisingly good.  Well, maybe I shouldn't say "surprisingly good" because I already expect it to be good, but it was even better than I expected so I was surprised.  Make sense?  haha....  The chicken tenders were like their name, tender, really really tender.  The outside was super crunchy and crispy.  And it didn't feel oily at all.  The honey mustard dipping sauce was yummy.  I love this dish!

Quick Seared Ahi Tuna with Ponzu ($6.00)

Ahhh just looking at the picture of Quick Seared Ahi Tuna with Ponzu makes me drool.  There were 8 big pieces of perfectly seared ahi tuna on top of sprout/cucumber/lettuce salad.  The ahi tuna was really fresh.  I like to eat it with a little bit of wasabi, a little bit of salad, roll up with ahi tuna, and dip with lots of ponzu sauce.  It was tooooooo good!

Happy hour is the best!  I love happy hour.  And I love Elephant Bar's happy hour.  Good food, good drink, good service, and shopping right after since it's located in Laguna Hills Mall.  How can you beat that?  Woohoo~~~~

  2. This may be close to Leisure World, which is a huge senior citizen community. That would explain why some older folks were there.

Oh I see. Maybe that's why.

  3. The Elephant Bar in Irvine is a big senior hangout too. One time, I think we were the only people in there under 60!

haha... Dr. P and I was saying that Elephant Bar must be good.
Because for old people, it's all about good food and value.
They don't care about the decor and the hype.
