Aunt and cousin came to visit us from San Jose for a week.  We went out to eat EVERYDAY!  I ate so much last week and woke up every morning still feeling full.  It was great!  haha....  Monday night we went to Noodle House and had the best buns!

海帶絲 Cold Shredded Seaweed ($2.50)

We started the meal with some appetizers.  Cold Shredded Seaweed was good, but not as garlicky as how I like it.  I like my seaweed with tons of garlic!

泡菜 Pickled Cabbage ($0.99)

Pickled Cabbage was sour and crispy.  Mom and aunt liked it a lot.

伴腐皮 Soy Bean Skin in Garlic Sauce ($2.50)

The Soy Bean Skin in Garlic Sauce was my favorite appetizer.  The tofu skin noodle was light and chewy.  The garlic sauce with cilantro was great.

蔥油餅 Green Onion Pan Cake ($2.99)

Green Onion Pan Cake tasted good, but some of the pieces had no green onion, and some pieces had too much.  The chef needs to "distribute" the green onion a little better.

牛肉捲餅 Simmered Beef Wrap with House Pan Cake ($4.50)

Simmered Beef Wrap with House Pan Cake had a lot of beef, a lot of green onion, and a lot a lot more cilantro than needed.  But it had almost no sauce.  So it was a bit too dry.  I like cilantro, but this beef wrap just had way too much.  The simmered beef was good though.

炸醬麵 Pork Bean Sauce with Noodles ($5.25)

Pork Bean Sauce with Noodles came with lots of veggies, bean sprout, carrot, and cucumber.

The sauce came seperately in a small dish.  The flavor of the brown sauce was good.

We picked thick noodle, and it was overcooked.  Other than that, this dish was pretty good.

豬肉白菜水餃 Pork Dumplings with Cabbage (10) ($5.99)

All the previous dishes were only "supporting" parts.  The main attractions were the dumplings and buns at Noodle House.  We had 2 different dumplings and 2 different buns.  First dumpling was Pork Dumplings with Cabbage.

The dumplings were huge.  Lots of filling.  And I can really tasted the freshness of the dumpling skin.

魚肉水餃 Fish, Pork and Vegetable Dumplings (10) ($6.99)

Fish, Pork and Vegetable Dumplings was mom's favorite.

The fish was so soft.  The flavor wasn't as strong as the meat dumplings.  Really good dumplings.

豬肉白菜包 Pork with Cabbage Steamed Stuffed Buns (8) ($5.99)

The buns were handmade right after we ordered.  It required 30 minutes wait, but it was well worth it.

Pork with Cabbage Steamed Stuffed Buns had the same filling as the dumplings.  The skin of the buns was soooooo soft, airy and fluffy.  Aunt kept on saying it was the best buns she's ever had.

豬肉韭菜包 Pork with Leek Steamed Stuffed Buns (8) ($5.99)

Pork with leek Steamed Stuffed Buns had that really strong leek flavor.  But I didn't even care about the fillings at all when I was eating the buns.  The bun skin was just too good that I didn't even notice the fillings.  Portion was big, too.  I had 2 dumplings and 2 buns and was full till next morning.

Aunt and cousin loved everything from Noodle House.  They already planed to visit Noodle House again next time they come to LA.  If you like dumplings and buns, you HAVE TO try Noodle House!

  1. This looks awesome! I like how plentiful the serving sizes are and that the lighting in the restaurant is bright and airy. I also like how all the dishes were nicely presented too! Certainly looks better than Happy Noodle.

We recently just went to Happy Noodle and just like you we were a bit dissapointed!

Oh yes, much much better than Happy Noodle!

  2. I actually like this place myself.

If you go back next time, try the pumpkin and shrimp dumplings and the 3 delicasies buns. Those are my favorite two items at Noodle House.

Pumpkin and shrimp dumplings? I've never had that combination before.
Gotta try that next time! ^^
