Shrine Circus

April 18, 2009, Saturday. We met up with Wen, her hubby, little J, Miho, and her man at Shrine Auditorium for some circus fun.  Thanks to Goldstar, we were able to get the ticket at 50% off price of $7.50.  Not counting Cirque de Soleil show, this is my FIRST time going to a circus!

There were some clowns at the door greeting people.  I don't know.... somehow both Dr. P and I find clowns a little... creepy.

Popcorn ($3.00)

We got some popcorn for the show.  $3 for a small bag of stale popcorn.

Tri-Tip Sandwich ($7.00)

Dr. P was hungry.  He got a Tri-Tip Sandwich combo, which came with a bag of chip and a drink.  It wasn't too bad, just expensive.

I only took pictures and videos of a few acts.  The show started with the lions.  These lions are so well trained and beautiful!

There was no net, no safety devices for the acrobats.  But they were really good at swinging in the air and dancing.

A clip of some jazz music singing and girls spinning in the air.

Cute pony act. But I didn't really understand the "show". I mean, these ponies just ran clockwise a few times, then ran counterclockwise a few more times. Not exactly special, but cute.

The highlight of the show was definitely the motorcycle act.

I got so nervous when I was watching them.

You thought 3 motorcycle was scary? Now try 4! 4 motorcycle in that little wired globe!! Crazy!

Intermission time. Wen and I went out to get some ice cream (sorry, forgot to take pictures) and came back to see Dr. P and Wen's hubby both sleeping in their chairs. Do men not like circus?

Nacho

Miho and her man got some nacho.  She knew she had to let me take a picture before she could eat it.  ^^

Some more acrobats act.

The dogs are so cute and smart. Seemed like they were having fun doing the act because they kept on wiggling their tails. Just too cute!

This walking on wire act made me nervous, too. One guys actually fell off, but he grabbed the wire with his hand. So scary!

Here is a video clip of the act.

Elephants! So big.

The elephants are so cute. Well, I do have mix feeling about circus animals. I know they are doing things they naturally wouldn't do. They probably have to go through tough training to learn the act. But from what I saw, it seemed like the animals enjoy performing, and they were treated well by the trainers.

My first circus and I really enjoyed the show. My favorite act was the magic + quick changing show. This is a small circus. All the performers have to do multiple acts. I saw one guy doing magic, juggling, motorcycle, acrobat, dancing, motorcycle, and walking wire. Taking about talent! $7.50, 2 hours of fun, totally worth it!

And we were anxious to get some Korean BBQ after the show.... (to be continued)

  1. I feel the same way about the pony show. They made it way too long and kinda boring in the end. (The elephant show was very short compared to the pony show). But overall it was a very good performance!

Yeah it was a fun show. Dr. P is still talking about the motorcycle performance.
