Ever since I started working my last job, I never had time to see my friends.  Because I worked night time, I could never have dinner with friends.  No more working at night.  No more working on weekend.  I can finally go out with friends for dinner on weekend like normal people do!  Since my friend Tammy and Sam live in OC, we decided to go down there for dinner.  I found out about Savannah at the Beach's $10 special and have been wanting to try.  Perfect!  Dinner for 6 at Savannah on Saturday night!

Dr. P and I arrived first.  We got an outside patio seat.  There was a big pit fire.  Lots of people were having drinks around it.

From our table, we had the Huntington Beach Pier view.

Mojito ($10.00) / Mango Martini ($7.00)

Dr. P and I started with some drinks while waiting for our friends.  He got a Mojito.  I ordered a Mango Martini.  The martini was strong, and somehow I thought it tasted strange.  It didn't really taste like mango, but just fruity in a strange way.  Dr. P thought it was great though.  So we traded drinks.  I like the Mojito much much better.  It was minty and sugary, just how I like it.

Palomino Margarita ($10.00) / Guinness Beer ($6.00)

Sybil and Andy got there next.  Sybil got the Palomino Margarita, and Andy got a glass of Guinness Beer.

Weli Vodka ($7.00) / Chimayo Margarita ($7.00)

Tammy and Sam finally arrived.... one hour later.  Knowing Tammy for 18 years, I already expected her to be that late.  haha....  They were ready for some drinks as soon as they sat down.  Tam got Weli Vodka (I think that was just cranberry juice and vodka), and Sam got Chimayo Margarita.

Calamari ($10.00)
Cornmeal Crusted Calamari with Chipotle Aioli

Everyone was hungry.  We started with some appetizers.  Calamari was really good.  Crispy cornmeal crusted fried calamari with spicy Chipotle aioli dipping sauce.  Yum!

Spinach Dip ($9.00)
With Artichoke, Parmesan & Chile Dip.  Served with Tortilla Chips

Spinach Dip with artichoke was delicious as well.  The only thing I didn't like was the tortilla chips break really easily.  It was hard to eat with the dip.

Pacific Oyster Shooter ($3.00/each) x 5
Served with Cocktail Sauce and Horseradish

Pacific Oyster Shooter for everyone, except Sybil who doesn't eat shellfish.  Well, Sybil's missing out because these oyster shooters were YUMMY!

Fresh oyster in thick tomato sauce with spicy horseradish, topped with fresh salsa.  I tried to down it like a shot, but there were too many things in there and I couldn't do it.  You had to use a fork to eat it.

Oyster on the Half Shell ($3.00/each) x 12
Served with Mignonette Sauce & Cocktail Sauce

A dozen Oyster on the Half Shell for everyone.  Too bad Sybil didn't have any.  Fresh and delicious!  But$3 for one was a little too pricey in my opinion.

Intermission time!  They had a hula dancer performing.  This girl is tiny, and she can move her hips like crazy fast.

I don't know if you can see it in the picture, but this girl's Hula skirt was EXTREMELY low.  I was so worried that it would fall off.  But they guys obviously didn't mind that.

For our main entrees, Dr. P and I ordered the 3 dishes from Savannah's Perfect 10's menu.  $10 filet mignon, $10 king crab legs, and $10 grilled halibut.  Can you believe that price?  Sybil and Andy got the same dishes as well.

Sanoma Cutrer ($10.00) / L. Martini Cab ($12.00)

Dr. P and I ordered a glass of red wine and a glass of white wine to go with our main entrees.  Both wines were great.

Premium USDA Choice Filet Mignon ($10.00)
On Garlic Mashed Potatoes & Green Beans, Topped with Bleu Cheese butter.  8 oz. Top 2% Choice Aged a Min. of 21 Days

$10 for 8 oz. Filet Mignon.  Really unbelievable.

The steak was cooked perfectly medium.  It was super tender and flavorful.  The mashed potato and green beans were superb as well.  Dr. P kept on saying this $10 steak tasted better than some of the $50 steaks he had before.  This was hand down the best dish of the night!

1/2 pound of Alaskan King Crab Legs ($10.00)
With Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Green Beans & Drawn Butter

The 1/2 pound of Alaskan King Crab Legs were very good.  The crab meat was so fresh and it tasted sweet.

Grilled Blackened Halibut ($10.00)
Served with Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Artichokes, Tomatoes & Capers

Grilled Blackened Halibut came with artichoke tomato sauce.  The flavor was good, but the fish was a little dry.  The fish wasn't bad, but we all thought the steak was much better than the fish.

New England Style Clam Chowder ($8.00)

Tammy and Sam don't eat meat.  So they ordered some seafood dishes to share.  They got a New England Style Clam Chowder.  I didn't taste any, but it looked good with fresh clams.

Roasted Sea Bass ($23.00)
on Garlic Mashed Potatoes with Whole Grain Mustard Sauce

Roasted Sea Bass also looked good.  I didn't taste it either but Tammy and Sam finished everything.  Must be good.

Beer / Gin & Tonic

After the meal, more drinks!  Sybil and Andy got another beer and a Gin & Tonic.

Pina Colada ($8.00)

Tammy ordered a Pina Colada.  Sam got a glass of wine.  But Dr. P and I had enough alcohol.  Dr. P got a cup of coffee to go with dessert.

The Lava Flow ($7.00)
Warm Chocolate Souffle Cake topped with Tahitian Vanilla Bean Ice Cream, Hot Fudge, Caramel Sauce & Crushed Macadamia Nuts

Since Sybil missed out on the oysters, we gotta order chocolate for dessert.  Sybil just LOVES chocolate.  The Lava Flow was so good.  Warm chocolate souffle cake with vanilla ice cream on top.  Double yum!

The bill was only for 4 of us.  So the 6 of us probably spent about $350.  Dr. P and I were asking how can they make money with the $10 special.  But I guess they make money from everything else, especially the alcohol.

I really like Savannah.  The food was great.  Service was good.  I like the atmosphere there, too.

Dinner was great, but I was even happier to finally hang out with friends.  We should do this again soon.

After dinner, Dr. P and I had a nice walk on the pier....  Before I bumped into a wall on the way to the parking lot.  Lesson learned:  (1) Do not turn your head to talk to someone when walking; and (2) always watch where you are going.  I hope my bruised left eye heal soon....

  1. Dr. P should star in a movie.

He reminds me of Ken Watanabe
whenever I see him on your blog.

    Oh, don't get me wrong.
    I'm a guy, not a gay. :)

Ken Watanabe? haha... first time I heard that one.

  2. He does give off a Ken Watanabe look... Always felt like I recognized him when I saw a picture.
And ouch! Sounds like you hit that wall hard to get a bruise :x

Yup I sure did hit that wall hard!
It's been a week and I still have bruises on my eye and knee.

  4. Wow, food looks good. But the total was pretty pricey!

Yeah, we didn't plan to spend that much money.
I think it was all because the drinks we ordered. All together we had 12 drinks!
