星期五本來要和公園先生一起來龍炒手吃特價午餐，結果早上公園先生去衝浪，到我家時間已經有點晚了，加上路上堵車，到了餐廳剛好3pm，服務生說特價午餐已經沒有了，只好吃原價，水煮牛魚和魚香茄子不錯吃，但是大腸粉絲煲實在不怎麼樣，後來發現還被多算錢，感覺有點不太好耶！所以這家餐廳，以後我還要考慮一下到底還要不要再上門....

After having dinner at Happiness Restaurant last time, Dr. Park has been missing the spicy beef & fish.  Last Friday, we planned to come back here for their 11:00am to 3:00pm lunch special.  Dr. Park went surfing in the morning.  Because of traffic, we got to the restaurant at 2:58pm.  But the waitress insisted that it was pass 3:00pm and lunch special was over.  So we settled for a regular price late lunch.


小菜 Appetizer

The same free appetizer as last time, bean sprout with peanuts and carrot. 




魚香茄子 Hot Garlic Sauce Eggplant ($6.95)

Hot garlic sauce eggplant wasn't spicy at all.  It was actually sweet.  I like it, but Dr. Park thought it was a little bit too sweet.  The sauce was good with rice. 


肥腸粉絲煲 Pig Intestine w/ Vermicelli in Hot Pot ($8.95)

I love intestine!  I also like vermicelli.  So when I saw the two items together in a dish, I couldn't resist.  But this dish turned out to be a big disappointment.  First the intestine was all cut into thin and small pieces.  And there weren't too much intestine.  The vermicelli was just in spicy oil.  Because vermicelli absorbed the oil, it was super oily and tasted kinda gross.  This dish was even worse when eaten next day.  The vermicelli was mushy and oily.  Had to dumped the whole thing. 

I remember seeing the item listed for $7.95 on the menu, but we were charged for $8.95 on the handwritten receipt.  I wasn't sure if I remember correctly so we didn't ask about it.  I grabbed a to-go menu and this dish IS $7.95.  We got cheated!

A coworker told me stories about her privous waitressing experience.  She was a waitress at a Chinese restaurant in the bay area.  She said they always cheat their customers with those handwritten receipts.  They would write really messy so nobody can really read it.  And they'll add $1 here $2 there on the dishes because most customers wouldn't notice it.  Or they would just add few extra dollars to the total because nobody's going to take a calculator and actually check.  Is Happiness Restaurant doing the same practice?  I don't know, but I hope not. 


水煮牛魚 Beef, Sliced Fish and Vegetable w/ Hot Sauce ($9.95)

Regardless of the disappointment about the intestine dish, we still love their beef, sliced fish and vegetable with hot sauce.  Both beef and fish were really tender.  Love the vegetable, too.  Dr. Park had 3 bowls of rice with this dish.  And we still had tons of leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  The portion is huge here.

So now I have mix feeling about this restaurant.  I like their food, but wasn't happy about the extra charge and not being able to get the lunch special.  Will we come back again?  Still thinking about it....
