I haven't been to Banh Mi Che Cali since I came back from Vegas.  I miss it!  So last week I went back two days in a roll and tried some new dishes.

Vietnamese Beef Stew with Rice (Bo Kho) ($3.00)

Vietnamese beef stew is cooked with carrot and daikon radish.  The beef and tendon were super tender.  The sauce was very fragrant but a bit oily.  Just like curry chicken, you can order it with rice, noodle or French bread.  I picked rice.  Super delicious!  I even drank all the soup at the end.

Pork Rice Noodle Rolls (Banh Cuon) ($2.75)

I saw this thing sitting on the counter and asked the cashier what it was.  She just answered "It's good.  One?"  So I got one without knowing exactly what it was.  I thought it looked like those rice noodle rolls at dim sum restaurant.  And it tasted just like it, too.... sort of.  It was served with pork roll cake (I thought it was fish cake at first), bean sprout, mint leaves, fried shallot and sweet fish sauce.

The rice noodle roll was filled with ground pork and black ear mushroom.  This dish was so good I got it both days.  (Actually I went back again today and got the same thing haha.... ^^)

BBQ Pork Spring Rolls (Goi Cuon) ($2.75)

Tried their BBQ Pork Spring Rolls.  The BBQ Pork tasted like ham, and it was really good ham.  Light and savory at the same time.

Today I went to Banh Mi Che Cali to get food for my family.  My family tried it for the first time and they love it!  Food is always good, fresh and cheap here.  Oh and today I accidentally found out you can order boba + pudding milk tea and it's also only $1.00.  Boba plus pudding.... yum!  I'll be back to Banh Mi Che Cali really soon!

  3. Oh my god!!! That looks soooo good! How can it be so cheap?! >.< I wish I were in SoCal!

I don't know how they make money with that price?!
Yeah I feel really lucky to be in Los Angeles.
We have food from every country here.
Maybe you can.... move over here? ^^

  4. They raised the prices recently. The pho bowls are now $4.75. That chicken chitlin porridge is now $3.00. Then again, the food tastes so good and the price is still within reasons that I won't stop going there. =)

Yeah, I noticed the slightly higher price, too.
But it's still cheap. Price has gone up everywhere. ><

  5. I've been in Northern California for the past 2+ weeks, and I haven't had my Banh Mi Che Cali fix....I kinda miss it, along with the LA weather since it's 110 degrees up here :(

The food here is real good and cheap, thanks so much for the recommendation Eileen. BTW, I think I saw the cute cashier you mentioned. You definitely have to go during the daytime. Hahaha. Happy Eating!

Haha you saw the cute girl?
So what do you think? *wink wink*

  6. Nice review Eileen. :)

So do you ever get their Banh Mi (Vietnamese Sandwiches)? I noticed that you didn't buy any on this visit.

No, I've never try their Banh Mi.
I think Banh Mi is what they're known for since it's in their name.
And they have a buy 2 get 1 free deal.
I usually come here to buy food to bring to work.
3 sandwiches is too much for me to finish haha.
Next time I'll ask coworkers if they wanted to buy it together.
