Dr. Park's Birthday Dinner

Sunday was Dr. Park's birthday.  We already celebrated together on Friday at Sushi Sasabune.  So Sunday was a celebration with Dr. Park's family.  At first we were going to have a BBQ.  On Saturday night before we were about to go to the market, Mrs. Park said she would go shopping for food on Sunday morning.  So nice of her!  Mrs. Park bought a whole bunch of delicious seafood and filet mignon.  The best part, she let me have all the food to cook anyway I like!

Salad

We started our meal with a beautiful salad made by Mrs. Park.  Organic green, cherry tomato, blueberries and pine nuts.  I love the blueberries in the salad.

Boiled Shrimp

I boiled the shrimp with the shell on in water, vinegar and white wine.  Then peeled the shell when it was done.  The shrimp was so fresh that it tasted sweet.  I wanted to cook it like how Cantonese seafood restaurant do their shrimp.  But I shelled the shrimp so it was easier for everyone to eat.

Dipping Sauce for Shrimp

My special dipping sauce for the shrimp.  Garlic, parsley, chili pepper, soy sauce, vinegar, sesame oil, sugar and water.  Mrs. Park liked the sauce a lot.

Baked Clam

I baked the clam the same way as the mussels last time.  First, chop garlic and parsley and mix with butter.  We bought salted butter this time.  Then just spread the herb butter on top of the clam, cover with foil, and bake.  Oh and this time we also added white wine to it.  This dish was really easy to make and the result was delicious.  Leftover clam and the white wine sauce was saved to make pasta for the next day.

Filet Mignon

I marinated the filet mignon with lots of salt for 30 minutes in room temperature.  I read it online before that doing so will make the steak super tender and juicy because of osmosis reaction (if I remember right).  Then rinse the steak with water.  No more salt needed for the steak, just add some black pepper.  We broiled the steak for about 5 minutes on each side.  This steak was cooked a perfect medium.  The meat was indeed juicy and tender.  The flavor was perfect as well.  No steak sauce needed.  Mrs. Park liked her meat more well done.  So she cooked it a bit more on the stove top.  The well done meat was equally delicious.  This was Dr. Park's favorite dish of the night.

Red Wine

Red wine to pair with steak.  Yum.

Lobster Tail

4 huge lobster tail!  Talking about fancy!  We broiled the lobster tail in the oven.

The lobster meat was so delicious.  It was served with butter and lemon.

White Wine

Chardonnay to go with the seafood.  This was one really good wine.

Roasted Asparagus

We need some vegetable to balance the meal.  Roasted asparagus with Parmesan cheese.  Easy to make and yummy.

Whiskey

Whiskey after the big meal for Dr. Park and his brother.

Crumbs Cupcakes ($3.75 x 4)

For Dr. Park birthday cake, we got 4!  4 cupcakes from Crumbs.  Pina Colada, Devil Dog, Blueberry Swirl and Caramel Apple.  My favorite was Blueberry Swirl.  There was blueberry filling in the middle of the cupcake.

The birthday boy got the cocktail parasol.  haha....

Happy birthday to Dr. Park (again)!  It was a great dinner with the Park family.  Let's do it again next year!  ^^
