I received a Hometown buffet coupon in the mail. The $6.99 coupon for dinner with a purchase of a drink seemed like a good deal. After I saw the picture of mouthwatering ribs on the ad, I had to visit. Before heading out to the restaurant, I went on their website to look up the nearest location, also to sign up on their email list. Right after I signed up, I received another coupon in my email. It was buy 1 dinner get 1 free with the purchase of 1 drink, which was an even better deal. Yipee!
We went for an early dinner around 5:30pm. The restaurant was occupied with mostly old people and families with kids. I think they like to earlier. We also like to eat early. Does that mean we are getting old? Or we are still young (like 5 year-old) at heart? haha.... The family in front of us in line offered us the extra $6.99 coupon they brought. So nice of them! But I had my BOGO coupon. So dinner for 2 plus a drink only cost $13.
Fried Chicken / Ribs
For my first plate, I went for my favorite food, ribs and fried chicken. Fried chicken had crispy skin with soft soft meat. It was so much better than KFC's chicken. They had two different ribs. I like the country style with traditional BBQ sauce better. The Cajun ribs was too peppery for my taste. They even had some Szechuan chicken stir fry with lots of vegetable. It tasted pretty good, too.
Prime Rib / Ribs
Dr. P got a piece of prime rib for us to share. It wasn't the best prime rib we've had, but for the price we had nothing to complain. The prime rib was actually quite good with some jus and horseradish sauce.
Vegetable / Mashed Potatoes / Roll
Dr. P's healthy plate veggies. mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, carrot, and dinner roll.
Fried Shrimp / Ribs / Sausages / Meatloaf / Roasted Chicken / Mashed Potatoes
My second plate of food. I got more rib, but this one rib I got was a bit dry. The sausages was very yummy. Golden fried shrimp was tasty. Meatloaf was very soft, and tasted very American, just the way I like it.
Prime Rib
Another piece of prime rib for us to share. Yum!
Mashed Potatoes / Corn / Salad
Dr. P got more veggies. He was all into eating healthy that day.
Taco / Nacho / Rice
Not me! I was there to eat like a fat kid. I made my Mexican platter from the taco station. Beef, lettuce, cheese, salsa, and some olive. It was yummy. also made nacho with a side of Spanish rice.
Salad
Fine, maybe I should eat some vegetable to balance my diet. Got a plate of salad. Their Caesar salad was pretty good.
Broccoli Soup
Also got a bowl of broccoli soup to go with my salad.
Dessert / Coffee
Dessert time! My favorite were ice cream, pound cake, and brownie. They also have really good coffee.
So all that food for $6/person. Is that a good deal or what? Remember to sign up for their email list on their website before you visit to get the BOGO coupon!

You have to pay drinks now?? Hometown buffet used to include drinks as part of meal.
ReplyDeleteReally? Drink is about $1.50 now I think.
But you can have soft drink/juice/tea with meal, then coffee with dessert.
It's still a pretty good deal, right?
For us big eaters, Hometown Buffets are a super value---but I'm glad there isn't one too close to Huntington Beach because I would weigh 500 lbs!
ReplyDeletehaha I know what you mean!
Now I know we have one close by, I want to go all the time.
I have the same coupon from mail and the discount online as well but haven't used them yet.
ReplyDeletethe TV ads does make me want to go there and eat the ribs like no tomorrow which I hate doing that LOL, but that's how buffet gets you, right!!!
I am heading Hometown Buffet soon ^^
