We were back at El Torito for their 3 course meal. For only $11.99, we thought it was a great deal, especially when you have a coupon. We often get $10 off coupon from El Torito in the mail, but this time I only had a $5 off coupon. Still a good bargain though. (If you sign up for their email list on their website, you can get a $8 guacamole for free!)
Chips & Salsa
It was our first time at Laguna Hills location. Service was on the slower side here. A waiter brought us chips, then brought us salsa 10 minutes later. They weren't all that buys, but food came out really really slow.
Homemade Tortilla Soup
Dr. P ordered Homemade Tortilla Soup for his first course. First glance of the soup, we thought, hmmm... there's nothing in the soup? But actually there were some. Not much, but some. There were little pieces of onion, carrot, and shredded chicken in the lukewarm soup. The soup tasted ok, but it would be so much better if it was hot.
Mini Beef Taquitos
For my first course, I picked Mini Beef Taquitos. The taquitos were pretty good. The dipping sauce was super spicy.
Carnitas Mini Chimichanga & Cheese Enchilada ($11.99)
Dr. P's entree was Carnitas Mini Chimichanga & Cheese Enchilada. I thought the Carnitas Chimichanga was really good. The pork was very flavorful and tender. Dr. P thought everything was just so-so. He didn't finish his plate, and refused toe at the leftover. I guess he didn't like it.
Mexi Chicken Fajitas ($11.99)

I got Mexi Chicken Fajitas. The chicken was dry.
But I made myself little burritos with chicken, onion, rice, beans, and guacamole wrapped with flour tortilla. It was good, but the chicken was dry. Did I mention the chicken was dry? Sign... the chicken was dry. Can you tell I really care about how the chicken was dry? haha....
Mini Home-Style Flan
This was the best thing at the entire meal, Mini Home-Style Flan. It was soft, creamy, sweet, and so delicious!
Mini Deep-Fried Ice Cream
Mini Deep-Fried Ice Cream was also pretty good, too. Their desserts were much better than their food.
This meal was disappointing, and it took such a long time too because service was really slow. We went to Irvine location for the 3 course meal before. We thought the food was delicious, and service was efficient and very friendly. Irvine's El Torito is seriously 10 times better than Laguna Hills' location. I don't think we will return to this one any time soon.
