When I cook Chinese/Asian dinner, I always like to make 3 dishes. There is 1 meat dish, 1 vegetable dish, and 1 more whatever I feel like making dish. I think I do that because that's how my mom cooks our everyday dinner at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.
Pork Bulgogi
I bought marinated pork bulgogi at Korean supermarket. I cooked the meat first in a pan, then used the juices and drippings to sauteed some onion. That way, the onion soaked up all the flavor form the pan.
Sauteed Vegetable
Very simple sauteed vegetable made with olive oil, minced garlic, and salt.
Egg with Taiwanese Sausage
I bought some Taiwanese sausage from the supermarket. I wasn't sure if it was cooked or not. But to be on the safe side, I sliced the sausage and cooked it in the pan with a bit of olive oil. While the sausage was cooking, I cracked a few eggs, added a little water, added some chopped green onion, and seasoned with salt and pepper. When the sausage was cooked, I added the egg mixture to the pan. Let the egg mixture sit in the pan for a bit until it is slightly set, then gently cook the egg. Dr. P really likes this dish. I ate the leftover for breakfast the next day also.
This was a very simple 3 dishes dinner at http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com. Dr. P kept on saying how good it was, and I thought it was really nothing too special. But then I thought, hey that's exactly how I feel about my mom's food. She doesn't cook anything fancy, just your normal everyday simple food, but it tastes so good. Maybe that's why people always like http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com cooked meal, because it tastes like "http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com"!

OMG I love http://www.eileenlikestoeat.commade food! It taste extra special because you didn't have to prepare it, and you haven't been smelling and steeping in the same aroma for hours. You didn't have to cut the meat yourself with blood and juice from the animal on your hands. You didn't have to shred the vegetables for hours, and trying to stuff the stems/peels/seeds down the garbage disposal. You didn't have to stand over the hot stoves, or fight the parking lot jam at the supermarket. I think to have http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com made food laid out on a table when you arrive is one of the best luxuries in life. I was reminded how nice this is recently when I watched Ang Lee's movie, Caution Lust, where the main characters are served meals at the Mah Jong or breakfast table by the household help. My mom made 3-4 dishes too when we were growing up. One time she set up dinner in the backyard and we had dinner al fresco!
ReplyDeleteOh I like that movie. Having dinner in the backyard with mom's http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com cooked meal sounds so good.
I've eaten many great meals at high end restaurants. But mom's food is still best in my opinion!
so gross
ReplyDeleteThanks for the criticism.
You might think the dishes look gross, but Dr. P likes them, and that's all it matters to me.
