My Vietnamese Chinese coworker recommended Banh Cuon Tay Ho.  This restaurant is famous for their banh cuon, or rice noodle sheet roll.  I've tried banh cuon at Banh Mi Che Cali before and really like it.  So I was looking forward to try the banh cuon at Tay Ho to find out why they are famous for it.

I ordered the #1 banh cuon on the menu.  I figured just like most Vietnamese restaurant, #1 is usually the special with everything.  In the box, there were banh cuon, fish cake, pork cake, vegetable and fish sauce.

The banh cuon was huge.  Inside there were sauteed ground pork with black ear mushroom.  The red flake was shrimp flake, I think.

Added the vegetable and fish sauce, then mixed everything together.  Their banh cuon is great.  The rice noodle sheet was soft, silky and chewy.  It was much more expensive than Banh Mi Che Cali's, but I can really taste the difference in the quality.  But the banh cuon didn't have much fillings inside.  The fish and pork cake was yummy as well.

The meal also came with fried sweet potato and some kind of green bean pastry.  I thought the green bean cake was sweet, but it wasn't.  It wasn't bad.  Just when I was expecting sweet cake, then took a bite and it turned out to be salty...  I didn't like it.

The fried sweet potato was pretty good.... until I got to the shrimp part.  I wasn't expecting to see a shrimp stuck in my fried sweet potato.  Again, it wasn't that it's bad or anything.  It was just the unexpectancy.  And I just don't like those weird unexpected surprises.  I wish it was just simple fried sweet potato without the shrimp.

Overall, I really like their banh cuon, but didn't really care much about the sweet potato and the pastry.  My coworder suggested me to try #1B next time without those fried stuff.  Definately will try another dish again from here.
