There were 6 of us on this tour that day. They assigned horses to us according ot our riding experience. My horse was very mellow. He likes to walk slow. But when I told him "andale", he would start running. Very smart horse. Dr. P got a horse that thought he was in the Kentucky Derby race. That horse had to lead. Every time I caught up to Dr. P, his Blanco started racing again. The first part of the ride was through the coconut and mango grove.
The second part was along the beach. We had two guides with us the entire trip, Tony and Maria, the brother-sister team. Both of them were friendly and helpful.
The beach was undeveloped. It was just breathtaking beautiful.
Dr. P was way ahead of me... leading with his racing horse. My horse was just taking his sweet time walking along the beach, enjoying the view with me.
Neither Dr. P nor I were experienced riders. They didn't really give us much direction when we got on the horse. But it was really easy riding the horse (or maybe the horses really know what they were doing?). We never had any trouble controlling our horses.
Yes, my butt and my back were hurting a little. But it was the best horseriding experience we've ever had.
I highly highly highly highly recommend this horseback riding tour with Randi if you ever visit Mazatlan.
After the ride, Randi met with us on the beach to take us to a restaurant on the beach for some beer. I didn't really want to get off my horse. I wish we could ride some more, maybe for another 2 days or so. haha....
