There is a one week extension for OC Restaurant Week!  I spent some time to look over the menus of the participating restaurants, and found 7 Seas Fish House offers a $20 menu with 4 courses plus a glass of wine.  I am all about bargain, and that sounded like a good bargain to me.

Last night Dr. P and I took a little drive to Garden Grove.  The restaurant is located on Main Street, which looked like one of those "oldtown" area.  The restaurant is huge, but absolutely empty when we arrived at 8pm.

They have a nice bar area with big wooden stools.  Their drinks are all very reasonable priced.  Beer s are about $3 and martinis are only $5.

The restaurant looks pretty nice.  We didn't understand how come it was so empty.  This restaurant serves American style seafood, but all the waitstaff are Asians.  Is there a large population of Asians in Garden Grove?  Sorry I just don't know my OC towns very well yet.

When we asked our waitress about the OC Restaurant Week menu, she told us that the event was over.  We told her that we found their restaurant from the extended week restaurant list.  Another waitress came and told us that they were no longer offering the restaurant week menu.  But a third waitress went to ask the manager, and she told us that they would let us order from the special event menu.  Hmmmm....

Beltrame Sauvignon Blanc ($7.00) / St. Hallet Poacher's Blend, Sauvignon Blanc Riesling ($5.00)

We ordered a glass of Beltrame Sauvignon Blanc and a glass of St. Hallet Poacher's Blend Sauvignon Blanc Riesling.  The wine was included in the $20 menu.  I like the Riesling wine.  Dr. P also enjoyed his Sauvignon Blanc.

Spring Mix Salad ($3.95)
Candied Pecans, Bleu Cheese, Balsamic Vinaigrette

I've included the original price of the dish as reference.  The meal started with a plate of Spring Mix Salad.  The candied pecans in the salad was too good.  Love the bleu cheese, too.

Spankin' Cajun Shrimp ($4.95)
Slaw Dipping Sauce, Crispy Tortilla Chips

The 2nd course was Spankin' Cajun Shrimp.  Deep fried popcorn chicken was on topped of a spicy slaw served with tortilla chips.  The slaw was really spicy.  This dish would be perfect to go with beer.  The portion was big.  We were pretty full by the time we finished the second course.  At this point, we realize that maybe we should've just order one $20 meal to share, and order another entree.

Seafood Linguine ($8.95)
White Wine Sauce, Mussel, Shrimp, Scallop

There were 2 choices for the main entree.  We got one of each to share.  The Seafood Linguini had mussel, shrimp, and scallop in a white wine sauce.  It was really tasty.

Lemon Pepper Chicken ($8.95)
Rice Pilaf, Seasonal Vegetables

I thought the Lemon Pepper Chicken didn't look that appealing on the plate.  Dr. P had this dish first, and kept on saying it tasted really good.  I was skeptical.  Then I tried it.  It was surprisingly good.  The chicken breast was tender and very flavorful.  The grilled asparagus was great.  And what I thought was just plain white rice actually was full of flavor.  I think they cooked the rice with chicken stock and butter.

Valrhona Gelato Chocolate ($4.95) / Ciao-Bella Strawberry Sorbet ($4.95)
Blackberry Sauce / Blood Orange Reduction

Dessert was so yummy.  Ciao-Bella Strawberry Sorbet with blood orange reduction was refreshing.  Valrhona Gelato Chocolate with blackberry sauce was rich, creamy, and super delicious.

We liked the food a lot.  Service was great.  Well, since the restaurant was empty, our waitress came by our table to make sure everything is ok about every 5 minutes.  It was a little bit much, but she was very nice and friendly.  The food tasted good, price was reasonable, and service was good.  I really wonder how come their business wasn't good?!  Well, take advantage of the last week of OC Restaurant Week.  If you like bargain as much as I do, for $20 you can get 4 course meal plus a glass of wine, try 7 Seas Fish House!

  1. Eileen,

Hi! Thanks for the great review, now I know another good restaurant to try in the future.

OC people call Garden Grove the *Korean Town*, if you drove around more, you will see this city is filled with Korean restuarants, markets, stors, salons & etc.

OC Korea Town? Gotta go explore then!
Maybe I can find a good Korean BBQ restaurant there!

  2. Good thing they honored the Restaurant Week menu. That would have really sucked if they didn't. I would have probably left!

Garden Grove does have a very high Asian population. One part of GG is largely Korean, and another part is largely Vietnamese. That just makes for a great food city! :)

We were going to stay even if they don't honer the restaurant week menu because their price is so cheap.
I am going to look into restaurants in Garden Grove now! ^^
