Back to our favorite OC restaurant, K'ya Bistro.  This time we were smart and made reservation a few days before our visit.  We saw people got turned away because they didn't have reservation, just like us last time.  So remember to make reservation on Open Table if you plan to visit K'ya Bistro.

Last time we sat at the downstairs area, which was much quieter.  We requested to be seated there this time also.  But the hostess informed us that the downstairs area is only available on the weekend.

Ravens Wood Zinfandel ($24.00)

We started the evening with a bottle of Ravens Wood Zinfandel.  Last time I finished most of the bottle we finished the whole bottle, and I just passed out after dinner.  This time we only had 1/2 bottle, and it was just the right amount.  Our nice waitress packed the unfinished bottle in a paper bag for us to take home.  I think it's a much better deal to buy wine in bottle instead of glasses.

Cheese Plate ($5.00)

Ever since we tried Cheese Plate at K'ya Bistro, we always order it to go with some wine before we start the meal.  It has just the right amount to be shared with two people, I think.  Although Dr. P likes it so much that he's always talking about how he wants to get his own cheese plate next time.  My favorite combo is blue cheese + pear + fig + cracker, eaten with a few sips of red wine of course.

Chicken Empanadas ($5.00)
Cilantro chili sauce

Chicken Empanadas were deliciously fried.  They weren't oily at all.  There were chicken, chopped veggies, and melted cheese inside the fried pastry.  The cilantro chili sauce was perfect with the empanadas.

Organic Gold Beet, Baby Tomato & Feta Salad ($5.00)
Greens, candied walnuts, mustard vinaigrette

Organic Gold Beet salad was good.  We loved the sweet gold beet and my favorite feta cheese.  But I wasn't a fan of this mustard vinaigrette.  It was a little sweet and a little sour, and don't know why but I just didn't like it.  But I did enjoyed the salad without the dressing.

Burgundy Beef Stew ($7.50)
With carrots, mushrooms and onions

Burgundy Beef Stew was a new dish that we tried, and it probably will become a regular dish to order from now on.  The beef stew tasted homey but with a touch of gourmet.  The beef was super tender.  The sauce was rich and delicious.  Loved the potatoes in the stew, too.  We loved this stew on a cold winter night.

Truffle Risotto ($5.00)
White wine, Parmesan cheese

We ordered Truffle Risotto as our side dish.  It was delicious eating by itself, and it was also perfect to go with the beef stew.  The risotto was cheesy and just tasted sooooo good.

BBQ Baby Back Ribs ($7.50)
With sweet potato fries and spicy BBQ sauce

I love ribs and really wanted to try the BBQ Baby Back Ribs from K'ya Bistro.  Well, it was quite disappointing.  The meat was tender and soft, but it didn't have any smoky flavor BBQ meat supposed to have.  It was smothered with BBQ sauce, a little bit too much of it.  It tasted almost like water-boiled ribs then dumped with BBQ sauce.  We didn't like it at all.  But the sweet potato fries was delicious.  I wouldn't order this again.  We will stick with their steak next time.  Their steak is always good.

Grilled Lamb Chops ($10.00)
White Bean Salad, chimichurri sauce

Grilled Lamb Chops was cooked to perfection.  Just the right amount of charred flavor, and it was cooked to medium.  I just loved chewing the bones.  The salad with chimichurri sauce was good, too.

Fresh Berries with Godiva Chocolate Liquer and Whipped Cream ($4.00)

Our meal was sort of on the heavy side, so we chose something light for dessert.  Fresh Berries was a good choice.  Strawberry, blueberry, and raspberry soaked in Godiva Chocolate Liquer was so yummy.

Even though I didn't enjoy the ribs, everything else was delicious.  We just love K'ya Bistro.  Can't wait to visit again!

  1. Hi, Eileen,
when did you start with the kindle and rss feed? which is more feasible for you and does it take much of your time to do it ( do you have to convert all of your posts to PDF and XML? ) Do you include graphics?

All I did was sign up with Kindle as a publisher.
They will do all the conversion for me so no work for me at all.
