[San Gabriel] [Chinese] 一條龍北平麵點 Dragon Mark Restaurant

Dragon Mark Restaurant
一條龍北平麵點

San Gabriel, CA 91778

Dragon Mark used to one of my dad's favorite restaurants.  He used to take us there all the time when we were little.  I remember I liked their beef noodle soup and xiao long bao.  I haven't been back for a long long time.  Dr. P and I went to the same plaza to get foot massage.  By the time we finished, it was about 10:30pm.  I saw a sign on Dragon Mark's window: "Xiao Long Bao for $1.00 with $10.00 purchase of food".  I wasn't even hungry but we went in anyway for the $1 xiao long bao.

The restaurant is opened till 3am.  I never knew they open till that late.

涼拌黃瓜 Cold Cucumber ($3.95)

We got Dr. P's favorite Cold Cucumber for appetizer.  The cucumber at Dragon Mark wasn't the kind I like.  There weren't enough vinegar nor sugar.  It was just salty, really salty.  Also it was icy cold.  We didn't really like it.  Also for the price of $3.95, it was overpriced for some salty cucumber.

龍炒手 Spicy Wonton ($4.25)

The Spicy Wonton wasn't good, either.  We didn't like their version of the spicy sauce.  It was spicy and the sauce made my tongue numb, but it didn't have much flavor.  Dr. P usually loves this dish, but he only ate 2 and didn't want it anymore.

排骨菜飯 Pork Chop Rice ($5.95)

The Pork Chop Rice came with steamed vegetable rice.  I like the veggie flavor, but the rice was a bit too mushy.  The pork chop was pretty good.  Meat was tender and I like the marinate.  The braised egg was overcooked so the outer part of the egg white was hard and rubbery.

湯 Soup

The rice came with a bowl of free soup, cilantro soup?  The soup only had cilantro and green onion.  Hmmm... at least add some radish or something.

南翔小籠包 Xiao Long Bao ($1.00)

This was the reason why we went to Dragon Mark, Xiao Long Bao.  This was definitely a bargain for $1.  This also was the best dish of the night.  The bao was so juicy.

I don't think I like Dragon Mark at all except their Xiao Long Bao.  Maybe we should've order the beef noodle soup?  But I don't know.  After trying their food that night, I don't have any desire to return anytime soon though.

  1. The Xiao Long Bao certainly looks good. Haven't been to this place in a long time, but I have been to the nearby restaurants like the Hong Kong Deli which is really good and Mei Long Village.

I never liked Hong Kong Deli for some reason.
I thought the food was super oily. But I do like Mei Long Village a lot.

  3. Hey Eileen - I'm not quite sold on the concept of spending $10 on stuff you didn't really want to get what you really wanted for 10 bucks..... BTW, do they still have the "Pork and Basil Dumplings" (acutally pork and dill) on the menu? We really enjoyed those.

I'm not sure if they have the Pork and Basil dumpling.
Didn't pay attention to the dumplings menu at all.
If I ever go back, I'll try the Pork and Basil Dumplings.

  6. Eileen - How are you? I haven't visited you for awhile. Xiao Long Bao is my husband's favorite. I will definitely give it a try when I am in the area!

    How are you, Sheri?
The Xiao Long Bao was good. But everything else wasn't though.
