My parents love northern Chinese cuisine.  They love noodle, dumpling and buns.  After reading ExileKiss' post on Noodle House, I just had to take my parents to try it.  All their dumplings and buns are made to order.  Anything freshly made must taste good.  ExileKiss has some great pictures that made me drool.  I even wrote down all the dishes that ExileKiss recommended.  And yes!  My parents love it!

Noodle House is a humble looking restaurant located in a Chinese strip mall.  The restaurant is quite small, only about 5 or 6 tables.  As soon as you walk into the restaurant, you can see a group of Chinese ladies busy making dumplings and buns behind the counter.  They have many different buns and dumplings, as well as noodles.

Pickled Cabbage 泡菜 ($0.99)

Dad ordered two cold dish to start the meal.  Pickled Cabbage was crisp and fresh.  I like pickle cabbage a little sweet, and theirs was more sour.  But dad and mom liked it.

Simmered Beef Tendon 醬牛筋 ($3.50)

Simmered Beef Tendon was really good.  The tendon was soft, chewy and very flavorful.

Stewed Beef / Tendon Noodle 紅燒牛肉/筋湯麵 ($5.75)

We ordered Stewed Beef and Tendon Noodle with the thick flat noodle.  As ExileKiss mentioned in her post, the noodle wasn't made in the restaurant.  But it was still good.  The soup was delicious.  Beef and tendon was stewed till really tender.  The portion was pretty big.  My family (5 of us) shared the bowl and still had leftover.

Pork Bean Sauce with Noodles 炸醬麵 ($5.25)

Sister requested the Pork Bean Sauce Noodle.  There wre shredded carrot, cucumber, bean sprout and cilantro in the noodle.

The pork bean sauce came seperately.  This was one tasty bean sauce.  The pork bean sauce noodle I am used to is the Taiwanese style, which is a bit sweeter.  The China style was saltier, but equally delicious.  Sister really liked this one.

Water Dumpling 水餃

The dumplings can be ordered in three ways: water dumpling, steamed dumpling or pot sticker.  We ordered two different water dumplings.

Pork Dumplings with Leeks 豬肉韭菜水餃 (10) ($5.99)

The first one was Pork Dumplings with Leeks.  I could really taste the difference of freshly made dumpling skin.  The skin had the perfect thickness.  Each dumplings was filled with as much filling as it could fit.  I don't even like leeks that much, and I like this dumpling.

Fish, Pork with Vegetables Dumplings 魚肉水餃 (10) ($6.99)

The second water dumpling we ordered was Fish, Pork with Vegetables.  The menu stated that it had pork, but I didn't really taste any pork.  At first I thought the dumpling probably would taste fishy, but it didn't.  The filling was soft and mushy, yet tasty.  This one was mom's favorite.

Steamed Stuffed Bun 包子

We also ordered two buns.  It was amazing how fast they made the buns, steamed it and brought to our table.

Double Mushroom with Pork Bun 雙菇肉包 (8) ($6.99)

The Double Mushroom with Pork Bun had a very very strong mushroom smell and taste.  My brother hates mushroom so he thought it was yucky just smelling it.  But the rest of us really like the mushroom bun.  The double mushroom meant shitake mushroom and black ear mushroom.  Yum.

Combination Seafood Bun 三鮮包 (8) ($6.99)

Combination Seafood Bun had pork, shrimp and sea cucumber.  Not just little pieces of shrimp, but actually had two big shrimps in mine!  This one was definately worth the price.

We got more than enough food for 5 people.  We were all super full and still had leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.  The price was very reasonable for how good the food was.  Noodle House is my favorite dumpling/bun/noodle place at the moment.  My parents couldn't stop raving about the restaurant after our visit.  They went back twice already within a week!  If you like dumplings and buns, gotta try this restaurant!

Thanks again, ExileKiss.  I found so many great restaurants because of you.  Love your blog!  ^^
