For my Exotic Animal Management class, we took a field trip to Shambala Preserve.  It is a rescue center for big cats.  They have more than 70 cats, including lions, tigers, cougars, black and spotted leopards, servals, bobcats, Asian leopard cats, jungle cat, lynx, and liger.  The preserve was founded by Tippi Hedren, an actress who starred in the move "The Bird".  We had a very informative and fun tour at the preserve.

This tiger's name is Precious.  She lives in Tippy's backyard.  Tippy herself lives inside the preserve.

We were just a few steps away from the tiger.  You can never get this close to a big cat in a regular zoo.

This lion is Zeus.  He ran up to the gate when the zookeeper called his name.  It was so cute.

Chewy, the zookeeper, has been working in the zoo for 20 years or something.  The cats all love him.  They get so excited when they see him.  All running up, jumping up and down with excitement and trying to lick him.  It was amazing to see how close those big cats can get with human.

Sorry I didn't take too many pictures.  If you are interested in big cats, please go visit Shambala.  Most of the animals here were either abused or abandoned.  They are just here at Shambala to live the rest of their lives in peace.  Shambala is only opened to the public one weekend every month.  The ticket is $40/person.  It's a bit expensive, but the money can help them maintain the preserve.  Also you have to be 18 or over to visit Shambala.  I really enjoy my visit.  I hope you will enjoy it too if you decide to go visit.  ^^
