Most of the guide dogs are Labradors, but any breed can be a guide dog with the right temperament and proper training. Our group worked with this super cute German Shepard named Valor. She has such a cute face!
She looks "handsome", but she's such a baby. She whines a lot haha.... such a girl!
I worked as the anesthesiologist during surgery. It was my first time, and the experience was a little overwhelming. There were so many things going on at one time. I had to keep an eye on the monitors, record the dog's vital sign every few minutes, control the machine, help the dog breath by squeezing the air bag a few minutes, check her color, her reflexes.... most importantly, I have to make sure she stay alive. It was a hard job, but Valor had a very successful surgery. Phewwww......
This other group had a Golden Doodle named Red. He's 1/2 golden retriever and 1/2 poodle. He's so sweet and cute!
Awww.... doesn't he look sad? If I was a guy, but wake up and became a girl, I guess I would be kinda sad, too. :-P

Great photos....I especially love that Golden Doodle----he looks like he's wearing a thick shaggy rug that I used to have!
ReplyDeletehahahaha.... he's such a sweet dog.
Very calm, very friendly, and very very cuddly.
omg~ I love dogs, I wish I can have one as soon as I can take care of them...
ReplyDeleteMe too! I can't wait to move to a new place that allows dogs.
Looks fun! I just started the Mt.SAC RVT program this spring and I'm looking forward to working more with the animals. I'm a career changer like yourself and worked in the non-profit world until finally deciding to follow my childhood dream of working with animals at 28. Looks like it's working out for you so that gives me a lot of motivation. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI started the program 1.5 years ago, and now I'm working on my last semester.
I love the RVT program at Mt SAC. We got a lot of hand-on experience.
Enjoy your time in school! ^^
