Last Week's Bento

Only brought bento to work twice last week.

2/2/2009 Bento

Everything was from Korean supermarket.  Well, except my dad's braised pork.  I love the bean thread noodle with veggies.  The slightly spicy blue mackerel was fishy, but so good.

2/4/2009 Bento

More blue mackerel.  Mom made the Chinese sausage with green veggie.  Also heat up some frozen meatballs from IKEA, added some of the lingoberry sauce (also from IKEA), YUM!

Two simple, easy, and yummy bentos!

  1. They look very yummy. Eileen, do you know any korean market in SG valley? tks.

There's a small Korean market in Arcadia... 2nd and Live Oak, right next to Quickly.
I bought marinated kalbi and spicy pork from there before. Pretty good.
They also have those Korean small dishes in plastic containers for sale.
Lots of Korean snacks and ramens as well.

  3. hello Eileen
I'm from Taiwan and live around Los Angeles near LAX for about 5 years (6th year now). I came here alone, didn't have any friend or family here, living in latino/black hood and work in a American company, I am probably the only Asian guy hanging around here >_<
I love to eat but didn’t really know too much about Taiwanese/Chinese places in Monerey/San Gabriel area until like 2-3 years ago. My job is in Torrance, we got some good JP/Korean/Chinese place but you know nothing is better than our own Taiwanese traditional food can give us comfort.
I found your old web about last Xmas by surfing around in order to see if I can find any good place to eat and ever since I went, I got hooked on your web for the reviews and your work/job experiences. It’s fun and I love your personality.
I think you probably don’t know or haven’t realized that you are doing people like me a huge huge favor when we are in searching or craving http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com-town foods. I really appreciate your works and I think I need to let you know whether than just reading your stuff on the side.
So far, I have tried [Monterey Park] 沸點臭臭鍋 Boiling Point and yesterday I just tried [Temple City] QQ冰果小吃 QQ Cafe, both places turned out super good, my friends(some westerns and some Chinese) and I were loving Boiling Point and enjoyed the food very much, I think I’ll keep trying some of your list ^_^
Again, thank you for the great works and please keep it coming and really appreciate your webs no matter older one or this new one. take care ^_^
the Bentos look great by the way. I cook too ^_^

Dear KJ. Thank you soooooooooo much for the comment.
It brought tears to my eyes.... (ok almost brought tears to my eyes)
I am so glad my little blog can help people in any way.
There are so many good food in Los Angeles, but nothing beats authentic Taiwanese food.
If you ever find a good place to read, please share with me too, yeah? ^^
