My little aunt (mom's little sister) came to visit from San Jose for Chinese New Year. She wanted to take me out to eat for my birthday. She said I could pick any place I want. Seafood Village Restaurant was the first place that came to my mind. I want some yummy garlicky crab for my birthday!
例湯 Pork Ribs Soup
Even with the big red C rating on the door, Seafood Village was still very busy for lunch. Our lunch started with pork ribs soup. Their soup is always tasty, and FREE!
梅菜扣肉 Pork with Preserved Vegetable ($5.29)
Everyone likes Pork with Preserved Vegetable. The pork had just the right amount of lean meat and fat. I like adding the sauce to my rice. So good! My dad usually eats one bowl of rice. But yesterday he had two bowls because of this dish.
避風塘特式炒蟹 House Special Crab ($5.99/lb) ($17.97)
Last time we were there, crab was $4.99 per pound. The price has gone up to $5.99 now. I love their House Special Crab. Fried garlic and green onion tasted so good with the slightly battered and fried crab. Mom, little aunt, and I ate so much crab. Dad only ate a few pieces because he said it was too much trouble eating crab. Lazy! He said next time we should order House Special Shrimp, which is prepared exactly the same way, because shrimp is easier to peel. Yeah, I wanna try that next time.
時菜魚片 Fish Fillet with Vegetable ($5.29)
We were going to order a vegetable dish. But mom saw that ordering Fish Fillet with Vegetable only costs $0.50 more. Why not ordering fish AND vegetable then? The fish fillet was thick and soft. Lots of fresh green vegetable under the fish. Good dish.
滷水豬大腸豆腐 Soy Sauce Pork Intestine and Tofu ($5.89)
Since it was my birthday lunch, I had to get pork intestine since it's my favorite food. haha.... Soy Sauce Pork Intestine also came with tofu, but the tofu was hiding under the intestine in the picture. The intestine was braised in soy sauce, and served with some vinegar dipping sauce. The intestine was soft, and the flavor was really good. My mom doesn't usually eat intestine. But she even had a few pieces yesterday and said it was good. The tofu had a fried skin, and really soft inside. It had that "sweet tofu" flavor, like the tofu from dim sum. Even the peanuts were good. I like this dish a lot.
紅棗雲耳蒸走地雞 Steamed Chicken with Mushroom & Red Date ($6.89)
Steamed Chicken with Mushroom & Red Date took a while to get to the table because it was a steamed dish. I could taste lots of rice wine in this dish, and I love that rice wine + gogi berry + date flavor. The chicken that they used was "yellow hair" chicken, and the meat tasted tighter and chewier than regular chicken. My little aunt and mom like this dish so much that they said "maybe we can drink the soup?"
I love this restaurant. Every dish was delicious. Little aunt was really happy with the food, too. And we had tons of leftover to take http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com. Yum!
芋頭布丁蛋糕 Taro Pudding Cake
After lunch, we went http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com for some birthday cake. My mom got me her favorite cake in the world, Taro Pudding Cake from Cathy's Bakery (香夫人). I think my mom was more excited about the cake than me. My mom loves it because it wasn't sweet. But little aunt thought it was too not-sweet. She said she wanted to sprinkle some sugar on top of her piece of cake. haha....
Mom and Little Aunt also sang happy birthday for me. They were so funny and cute.... all singing and clapping and stuff. I felt so loved by my family. Awww..... Yeah! Happy birthday to me, AGAIN! haha....

Wow, $45.36 for all of that seafood! What a bargain!
ReplyDeleteYeah, it was such a good bargain.
Lots of delicious seafood!
Happy Birthday Eileen~~~!!all the dreams come true~^^
ReplyDeleteThank you, Carroll. ^^
Wow, great deal for all that good food! I don't think Seafood Village in Temple City has a C but this restaurant sure doesn't look like it deserves a C... The cake looks really nice. I like how they even put cream also to write out Happy Birthday. Don't see that much elsewhere. Maybe this year I should order taro cake from Cathy Bakery instead of JJ Bakery :).
ReplyDeleteTemple City location looks nicer and cleaner.
My parents used to go there because it is closer to their http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com.
But after trying the Monterey Park location, they said the food is better there for some reason.
As much as I don't like taro cake (haha I just don't like taro), I still think Cathy's Bakery has a good taro cake.
The taro always tastes fresh, and there are even chunks of taro in the cake.
We had JJ Bakery's one time, and the cake was dry. No good.
Personally I like Cathy's mango cake and green tea cake better, but my mom LOVES the taro cake.
