Last time I rode a bicycle, I think I was in 3rd grade. I bought a bicycle two weeks ago. Last weekend I went riding for the first time in 25 years.
All of our friends and Dr. P are experience riders. My friends told me they found a "easy" trail for me to try for the first time. I was thinking it would be something like a 5 or 10 miles easy ride. Wrong!
We left from Irvine and took the Back Bay Trail. The view was beautiful! But I didn't really had much time to enjoy it. I was the last one in the group the whole way. The whole time I was just busy catching up.
Our destination, Balboa Island. It was 31.5 miles round trip! 31.5 miles!!
We had lunch at Bolboa Island and walked around a bit. The store had crazy Halloween decorations.
That's it! No more pictures! I couldn't ride and take pictures at the same time. Our friends made frequent stop (and rest) to wait for me. But as soon as I caught up to them, they said "oh there you are! Let's go!" So I actually didn't really stop at all.
The ride was VERY challenging for me. At time, I almost felt like I couldn't do it. But I did! I felt really proud of myself after the ride, but I couldn't feel my legs anymore (and had trouble walking for the next two days). But it was all worth it! It was fun, and I want to ride again!

Kudos, Eileen! :)
ReplyDeleteI just did the same a couple of months ago, bought a hybrid bike... after 10+ years of not riding one, it was hard in the beginning just like your experience, but I love it!
I kept on telling myself, just keep on going, it'll get easier with more practice.
Hopefully I can ride like my friends someday! ^^
let's do it again! we can meet at civic center's parking lot and ride bikes from there.
ReplyDeleteSure sure! Just tell me the day and time, I'll be there.

Wow.
ReplyDeletehaha... I know!
Good job! :)
ReplyDeleteThank you. ^^
Wow, Eileen, I am very impressed! I could never do 30 miles on a bike (I am SO out of shape). I think 1 mile is good enough for me, lol.
ReplyDeleteI just kept on telling myself... "I wanna be skinny I wanna be skinny" when I was riding.
That thought kept me going... haha...
