Everybody's raving about 85°C Bakery Cafe's moon cakes. Since I live so close to the bakery, I thought I'd go get a box to bring http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com for my parents.
月舞風華台式月餅 Taiwanese Style Moon Cake ($25.65)
I went on Saturday. They told me that if I wasn't in a hurry to get the moon cake on that day, I should place a pre-order to get 10% off. I went to pick up the moon cake on Tuesday morning and saved about $3.
The moon cakes came in a pretty box.
There are 15 moon cakes in the box, 5 flavors, 3 each. They also sell individual moon cake for about $3 each. I tried a bite of each one. My favorite was the taro with mochi one. The prune with egg yolk was pretty good, too.
Their moon cakes were good. But I still think it's overpriced. The moon cakes were small. I can finish one in two bites. Either they have to make the cakes bigger, or lower the price a little. Otherwise I don't think I'll get it next year....

Just went here two weeks ago due to your previous reviews :). So busy! I've never seen Irvine so crowded before. Even busier than my area which is already very busy.
ReplyDeleteSo many types of mooncakes And the packaging is nicer compared to other bakeries like JJ Bakery. But I agree, it is pricey. Mooncakes seem to all be pricey!
I passed by the bakery last Saturday, and the line was sooooo long.
Seriously, is the bread really that good?
