Last time I went to Port Restaurant, I enjoyed their food, especially the Curry Filet Pasta. The restaurant is on the expensive side. When I saw a $20 for $40 Groupon daily deal with Port Restaurant, I bought it thinking I could go back there with Dr. P for him to try since he didn't go with me last time. We looked over their menu, and decided to try their breakfast this time. Made reservation online for a Saturday morning, but apparently we didn't really need to because the restaurant was empty.
Coffee ($4.00) / Orange Juice ($5.00) / House White Wine ($9.00)
There's a cute outdoor patio area. It was a gloomy cold morning so we opted to sit inside. I asked our waiter about bringing pets to the restaurant, and he said we are more than welcome to bring our puppies to the outdoor patio next time. Breakfast at Port, then take the dogs to walk around CDM... sounds like a nice plan for our next visit!
For our morning drinks, I felt like having a glass of white wine. On the breakfast menu, house wine are listed as $6 during breakfast time. That was what I ordered, but then I was charged $9 for it. I didn't notice it until later when I was home organizing my receipts. Dr. P's hot coffee was $4, and a glass of orange juice (tasted like the concentrated kind) was $5. Their drinks are REALLY expensive!
Filet Mignon Eggs Benedict ($16.00)
Classic Eggs Benedict, Filet Mignon, House Hollandaise Sauce, Choice of Hash Brown Potatoes or Small House Salad
Food took a very long while to come out. At least we knew the food was made to order. Dr. P ordered his favorite Eggs Benedict with a twist... Filet Mignon. How fancy! Instead of Canadian bacon, they put filet mignon in the eggs benedict. This was a brilliant idea because it was delicious! The filet was cooked perfectly, very soft and tender. Dr. P said the long way was well worth it.
Breakfast Pizza ($12.00)
Two Eggs Scrambled, Mushrooms, Chicken Apple Sausage, Sliced Green Peppers, Mozzarella Cheese, Baked on Our Organic Crust
I ordered Breakfast Pizza because I thought it sounded interesting. I've never had a breakfast pizza before. It turned out to be really good. It was pretty much scramble eggs with sausage and veggies on top of melted cheese on top of pizza crust. It was good, especially with some Tabasco sauce on top. Portion was big. I only finished half a pizza. The leftover made a great breakfast the next day.
Port Restaurant is expensive. The food is great, but I probably won't go there unless I have one of the 1/2 off deal. This visit gave me some new ideas about breakfast at home. I can try to make my own filet mignon egg benedict and my own breakfast pizza at home next time! And I won't charge Dr. P that much for hot coffee and OJ. :-P

Prices look like those of a hotel menu, but what you had looks pretty good! Filet mingon egg benedict is a nice twist, I want to try that.
ReplyDeleteI think the hardest part to make egg benedict at home is the hollandaise sauce.
Once I learn how to make the sauce, I think I can make it at home. Are you planning to try this at home?
