Dr. P and I was still full from the meal at Bamboodles, so we wanted something light for dinner. I suggested the intestine thin noodle at Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle because (1) I LOVE intestine; (2) when I'm hungry, I never think one bowl of the noodle is enough. So maybe it'll be just the right amount since I wasn't hungry that day. I was a little worried that Dr. P won't like the unique Taiwanese noodle, but he ended up loving it.
The restaurant is set up like a fastfood joint. You place the order at the counter and pay. They'll give you a receipt with your number on it. When they call your number, go up to the counter to pick up the food and find a table to sit down. No tip needed. Also you can just leave the drity plates on the table. Someone will come and clean the table.
阿宗麵線 House Special Thicken Soup Thin Noodle ($4.60)
Ahhh the intestine thin noodle that I've been craving! This was a really good bowl of thin noodle, with tons of intestine. I added a little red vinegar and a lot of their special "tiger" spicy sauce. Comparing to the Ay-Chung in Taiwan, I still think the noodle in Taiwan tastes better. But I'm just happy they have this noodle in LA. A bowl of noodle only cost $1+ in Taiwan. But the portion is about 1/2 of what you get here in LA. Dr. P took a few bites of the noodle and soup, then he took the whole bowl and wouldn't share with me! I was surprised how much he likes it.
濃湯 Soup / 沙拉 Salad
Ay-Chung in Taiwan only sells one thing, the intestine thin noodle. But I guess they can't survive just selling one thing here in LA. So they also serve all kinds of Taiwanese food, as well as Taiwanese style sizzling steak. One got a steak. It also came with soup and salad. The soup was the Taiwanese style creamy chowder. It tasted like corn chowder, but there was no corn in it. The salad had a sweet dressing and it was fresh.
阿宗牛排 House Special Steak ($9.20)
We got the House Special Steak with black pepper sauce (the other option is mushroom sauce). I took a bite and OMG it was soooooo Taiwanese. It instantly brought back childhood memory of eating the sizzling steak with parents in the mall food court in Taiwan. It was a really big piece of tender steak cooked medium. The black pepper sauce was a little sweet and a little spicy. Love the spaghetti with the sauce. But we were too full and couldn't finish. Dr. P also thought it was really good. He kept on saying "I love Taiwanese food" all night.
If you are craving for Taiwanese style sizzeling steak or a bowl of intestine thin noodle soup, I highly recommend Ay-Chung Flour-Rice Noodle!

Wow looks interesting! I'm def. gonna check this place out soon. Is this located in the Focus Plaza? And is it possible to get the House Special Steak with rice?

I'm not sure about the rice substitution, but you can definitely ask.
You got me craving Taiwanese food now. I would like a "bah wan" though, lol. And I'm with ya on the intestines - I love anything with intestine. YUM!

awww the Taiwanese sizzling steak got me all hungry again! I'm not a big meat eater but I love the Taiwanese steak, especially the mushroom sauce and the fried egg as a side dish! Yummy!

我每次去吃麵線都不要大腸也不要蚵仔...
很難搞..
我們這次去吃的麵線完全沒有蚵仔
但是有滿滿的大腸,剛好對我口味啊
那你光吃麵線都沒有料,還是一樣貴嗎?這樣不划算耶!
