Our hotel had a free shuttle service to take guests down the hill to "The Village". Even though on the hotel handbook it said the service is every 30 minutes, our friendly driver took us there right away. He also told us to call the hotel when we need to be picked up. Very nice service!
The Village is a contempory shopping center at the foot of the mountain. It has a few supposedly "upscale" restaurants and shops. Walking around the plaza, it felt very.... LA. We thought they kind of overdid it. The Village looked a little sad. Lots of vacant spaces, or "out of business" signs.
We took a few pictures in The Village. Dr. Park with a bear. When we checked in at the hotel, the front desk lady told us not to leave anything in the car or the bear might break the window. The shuttle driver also told us that he saw quite a few bears digging through trash cans around town. Luckily we didn't encounter any real bear. Even though I think they're quite cute, but I probably will be scared if I actually meet one.
Dr. Park with a giant trout. A lot of people come to Mammoth to fish at the lakes for trout. There are also a few trout hathery around the area.
Me with dragon. Dragon? So there are bears and trout in Mammoth, but dragon? Hmmm.... Do they have dragon too? haha....
We took the free trolly at The Village to the dinner restaurant. When we came back to be picked up by the hotel shuttle, they were showing Wizard of Oz at the countyard. The next day they had a concert there. I think they're trying to everything then can to attract crowd.
When visiting Mammoth, for convience, I would dine at The Village. Maybe in the winter when it's hard to get around places. But in the summer time when driving around town is easy, I would definately find better restaurants for better food and value.
