Kooza in Irvine

I usually do my computer thing in the morning or afternoon.  After I turn off my computer, I try not to go on again at night time.  See, that was one of my New Year resolution.... spend less time on the computer so I can do more useful things (such as playing on my PS3... haha... very useful!).  So one night just as I was about to go to bed at 1am, suddenly I got the urge to check my email.  I actually felt like I couldn't go to bed until I check my email.  Weird, but I did it.  I saw this email from Yelp for a contest for 2 Kooza tickets.  The drawing was for the next day.  So I entered with a simple click and went to bed.  Woke up the next morning, turned on my computer, and saw another email from Yelp telling me that I won!  Wow!  Talking about lucky!  I won two $90 Kooza tickets.

The tickets were for a Friday 8pm show.  Due to Dr. P's busy work, we arrived about 10 minutes late at Irvine Great Park.  The staffs were great about directing traffic for parking and exiting.  We thought we had to wait outside for the end of the first act to go in, but they actually let us in right away.

I snapped a picture at the end of the show.  The show was really funny and entertaining.  The acrobatic acts were good.  But I think due to the differences of performing on a stage in Las Vegas and a mobile tent, the acts were limited by the circumstances.  The show wasn't as big as Las Vegas Cirque du Soleil shows, but the smaller show was more intimate.  They had a lot of audience interaction in Kooza.  It felt actually more like a circus show than a Cirque du Soleil show.

We enjoyed the show a lot.  It was a lot of fun.  The only part we didn't enjoy was the LONG intermission.  I think it was maybe about 30 minutes?  But it just felt so long because we pretty much had nothing to do for 30 minutes.  We went to look at the food stand and merchandise stand.  Man, the food there was super expensive.  A large popcorn combo with drinks ( I think 2?) was a whooping $28 or something like that.  A small piece of cheesecake was $12.  We were glad that we didn't go to the show hungry.

Kooza is a great show to take families to.  The kids at the show all seemed to enjoy it a lot.  I love hearing and seeing kids laugh.  That always put a smile on my face.  Thank you, Yelp!

  1. Wow, lucky you! It must have been nice. The popcorn combo seems like a big rip off. I wonder if a burger inside would be like $20-25.

I know! I already think movie theater's popcorn is a ripoff.
Here the popcorn combo is a even bigger ripoff.
