Today around 11:45am, I just turned on my computer and was getting ready to check my emails. All of sudden the floor started shaking. I was on the second floor of my house. It felt like somebody was jumping up and down and the floor was also going up and down. Soon after it started swaying from side to side. Earthquake! And it was a big one!
The news said it was a 5.8 magnitude earthquake. The center of the quake was 30 miles east of Los Angeles. The quake was felt all the way in San Diego and Las Vegas. I've heard it on the news so many times that there was a big earthquake that is way overdue in Los Angeles. I hope this was the one. No more big earthquake, please!
Is everyone in LA ok?
i was at the schoool and all of sudden the floor started to shake, but our class room didn't shake form left to right though...at first i thought it was my friends making noises by stumbling their feet then i realized that it's an earthquake.
ReplyDeleteDid you guys run out from the classroom?
Yeah it's pretty scary.. Hopefully this is the "overdue" earthquake and no more will come..
ReplyDeleteSo far so good.
Let's hope there's no more earthquake in LA.
I was on phone with my boss at the time the earthquake started( she was planning to see me during her lunch break cuz i was sick and stayed http://www.eileenlikestoeat.com to rest).......i had kinda same feeling as you at firsthand...just thinking WTH my neighbor upstairs were jumping so hard to make the wooden-framed apartment shake......then the jolt was getting more intense...and my boss over the phone told me it was an earthquake-- in a quite clam tone...i was totally freaked out...brain went blank..i started to scream coz the shaking was getting stronger...my boss told me to stay clam, get under a table or desk, then held on something sturdy if i can....I just screamed, screamed for the entire 15- 20 minutes or so.....that was just so scary....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI come from Hong Kong where basically is very far from natural disasters like this.....so it was my first time experienced that....Too bad that i realized i was totally like a no common sense idiot screaming all over....after this incident, i thing people should be more disaster-conscious and get some, at least, preparartion for that.
Thanks for my boss's direction and being bear with my "Screams"...
I think you meant 15-20 seconds.
15-20 minutes of screaming is too long... haha....
Earthquake is really scary. So your screaming is totally understandable.
JUST SCARE THE SHIT OUT OF ME" 我還以為他在開玩笑
We were all fine. I was in the yard sweeping the leaves when it started, I actually got "thrown" around a bit. First I was like WTH? Then I realized it was earthquake, quickly went inside and got my son downstairs and we all stood under the door frame. I actually stayed very calm, but he was totally freaking out. Can't blame him, he's only eight. It lasted about 30 seconds or so. No cell services after wards for a long time, but still had internet.
ReplyDeleteYeah my cell phone didn't work for a while.
I was upstairs, then went downstairs, then came upstairs during the earthquake.
Just didn't know where to go exactly.
Orz
I was in the office (Culver City) talking to my co-worker. It got pretty rocky, like standing on the deck of a boat in the ocean. And it lasted over 20 seconds; a long one indeed. I guess we are all pretty used to the quake, we just kept on talking as if nothing "unusual" happened. ;-)
ReplyDeleteWow! You guys just continue talking like nothing happened?
That's pretty funny though. haha.... Really brave!
